The galette was a huge hit - even DS who professes not to like cabbage had a *happy plate*. Here's a pic - next time I'll brown it a bit more, but the small penguins were threatening to faint clean away with hunger
And here's mine, with extra sprouts and cauliflower, for the brassica lovers

Yum, I want it!
I'm going to make this too.
Great thread GR :T :T :Tde do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar0 -
Hi GR
How much protein do you eat roughly in a day? I have to eat a minimum of 120g daily.
Thanks
PP

thanks for this. This helped me have an idea of what i was really looking for. Tesco had only red & green lentils. Where is it best/cheapest to get lentils from?
I ended up going to a health food shop which was rather expensive. They had red, green, brown and puy lentils. This foxed me slightly as i didn;t knwo whether to get "brown" or "puy" so i grabbed a bag of each and though i'd mix 'n' match. Lentil lasgne for tea tomorrow now....0 -
PP, I've been having a think about how much protein I eat daily and I honestly don't know. I have milk, cheese or yoghurt every day and try to have a little more than usual because I'm breastfeeding. You can see that I eat a reasonable amount from pulses each week and we have seeds in our hm bread sometimes. We have nut roast sometimes and sometimes it's a sunflower and sesame seed one.
Do peanut M&Ms count?:o
Is there a particular reason you need to watch how much protein you eat?May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I love lentil lasagne, Zziggi. I don't know where to buy pulses most cheaply I'm afraid. I'm still on a learning curve and have just been getting them either in Morrisons or at my local health food shop.
I'm going to start a 'pulses quick questions' thread. Now might be a good time. Someone might chip in with a good idea on there.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

Thanks GR.
Some of the medication I take stop the proteins malabsorbing, so I need to eat higher quantities IYSWIM. 120g doesnt sound alot but it is. A normal amount of chicken (120g) is only about 35g of proper protein.
Thanks for all the info on this thread.

PP that sounds like hard work to keep on top of. This is far from my area of expertise, but off the top of my head, some ways of increasing protein intake might be to add a tin of chickpeas to soup (or make soup with a red lentil base) add nuts and seeds to flapjacks, muffins etc, have nutbutters on wholemeal bread and always eat pulses with wholemeal pasta, rice or bread to form a complete protein.
I think there might be more ideas in The Food Bible. I'll have a look at it later and let you know if there are any tips in there too. x
Oh, and I think there's a Rose Elliot recipe for pastry with cheese in it. I suppose the problem with adding too much cheese to things is that it's high in fat too.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I always add one or two tablespoons of soya flour to my homemade bread and a teaspoon or two to pastry and cakes with no noticable change in taste or texture but does boost the protein count a bit.
