Just had a look on Amazon and it is no longer available - it has been replaced by a newer model Panasonic SD-2501WXC £111.69 at the moment; my old breadmaker (a Kenwood) bit the dust last year when the clips that hold the pan down as the dough is kneaded gave way so a mechanical failure. OH has promised me a new one but not holding my breath - backup plan is 3rd purse!
I saved up and bought the 2501 and it's really the best money I've spent in a long time. Huge numbers of bread options, timer, dough settings, gluten free option....can even make jam or cake in it. I have it going at least every other day and I love that I can wake up to the smell of fresh bread
In other news, I've just done a stock up in Mr. T's...a very weird looking basket mostly filled with Ribena and baked beans as there are a whole load of special offers due to end tonight. Saved myself nearly €11 though combining in store offers with manufacturer coupons. Very chuffed with myself... :j0 -
Another vote for the Panasonic 2501 - got it for xmas and have only bought one SM loaf since. And that was when we were on holiday and OH wouldn't let me take the breadmaker :rotfl:0

Right I am up and running for July. Total spend on Day 1 is £2.80. Mainly consisting of whoopsies, yougerts for DH lunches and the balances of Mr T shops after JTD coupons.
Might try for a no spend day today, but will have to resist the urge for my new addiction of popping to my new T express at tea time for whoopsies.£2015 in 2015 (Although actual goal is £10 a day)0 -
Just for info, I have just a cheapie BM, about £35 from Argos - Couldnt have afford to spend too much on one.
I have had mine for about 7 years and I use it loads. I use the timer to set it so the bread is ready in the morning, you can set it up to 13 hrs in advance. It has a setting for Jam too which I also use. A basic dough (making pizzas). It does 1 or 2lb loaf, I always do the 2lb and also a setting to choice the colour, light, medium or dark. I'm sure the others that are top end of the market are brilliant and I wish I could have one, just cant warrant spending so much on one at the mo. For those in a similar position as me some of the cheapie bm's are also v good, I think mines a Breville.TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0 -

Haha! I wish I was still that young!
I do try - I have the odd slip up, but I like to make sure that the meals I do stay interesting. I'm always looking for new recipes to try out.
I love reading about your foraging. I'm afraid that if I do it in London, the nettles will probably be somewhere a dog relieves himself on though! :rotfl: There ARE some nettles high up a fence near me, but would they be absorbed with pollution since it's on the main road?
I avoid kerb sides (dog piddle) and busy road sides (exhaust emissions) too. I'm sure ther must be a public right of way lane somewhere not too far.

Grocery Budget January £150/£175
Feb £150/0 -
I had a bread maker 5 or so years ago, made great doorstops.
I now have the panasonic 2500 (the cheaper model) and I love it, I make only one or two sandwich loaves a week, depending on what I have planned for meals, the rest of the time i make dough for rolls. (even fussy DH loves them).
Definately the best investment I have made since my bamix.

Have you tried the artisan bread in 5 minutes? There is a thread on here somewhere. It is dough that lives in the fridge that needs no kneading. Basically pull off what you want and bake in the oven.
It's on my to try list... along with sour dough bread and cakes.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
