Just had a look on Amazon and it is no longer available - it has been replaced by a newer model Panasonic SD-2501WXC £111.69 at the moment; my old breadmaker (a Kenwood) bit the dust last year when the clips that hold the pan down as the dough is kneaded gave way so a mechanical failure. OH has promised me a new one but not holding my breath - backup plan is 3rd purse!

You sometimes see them cheaper on Ebay. I have been looking as considering getting one, I really only use my BM to mix the dough as I like to make rolls and small cottage loaves, but if my arthritis gets any worse thren and I cant do this then I will be getting a Panny.

  • Thanks for the pitta bread recipe savesummore.

I will have a go at that this evening with a Morse re-run on in the background.

Does anybody have any recommendations for a breadmaker - or is the consensus of opinion that there is more control over the process making bread manually (daily loaves that is)?

    Much appreciated,

    Hi
I haven't read to the end of the thread before posting so sorry if you have already had lots of responses but I have a Panasonic which I love. We have made a variety of loaves - white, wholemeal, granary, pine nut and pesto, sunflower and honey, French, ciabatta, malt, spicy raisin, milk and also pizza dough. Never had a bad loaf (except the one where I forgot to fix the paddle in place :o
    I would definitely recommend. Hth.

Wow, finally caught up. I forgot how quick this thread moves sometimes. Anyway, popped on to update my sig with today's spends. I thought today was going to be a big shop as I needed meat, and lots of toiletries. It was a bit of a shock having spent £40.70. And I'm only in week one. I feel a bit deflated after last month's good result. Oh well. Got to stick to it.

We had the leftover chilli con carne from the other night stirred through some pasta for a very cheap and filling tea. I've been starving all day and bolted it (really shouldn't have done). Nevermind.

Well, have a good evening folks. Rest of the week is going to HAVE to be NSDs for me to keep on budget. Take care all.

    K xx

    Another £20ish spend tonight.

This was mainly on cheese and some reductions.

    I think I've added a signature but don't know until I post this.:o

  • Oh, and to whoever's not sure about the cost-effectiveness of making jam - I find it's generally more expensive than shop bought, but I still make it because NOTHING beats the taste of HM raspberry jam. And I give jars of jams/chutneys as Christmas pressies :D

    It was me!:D

Thanks for the Bluegreen hadn't thought of giving them as pressies! :D

My fruit will be free (just time spent picking it in the woods!) so hopefully that'll keep the costs down a bit!:T

Sam22 - I've just read your post on June's thread. I don't bother with a spreadsheet (whatever it is :rotfl:) I use good old fashioned pencil and paper to work everything out :)
Hope you have a better month.
