Just back from MrT. Spent £78.98 although only £51.72 on groceries. £5 off a £40 spend is not valid until 26/7  I had two anyway as DMIL gave me hers, plus I did two transactions today as I needed to buy BBQ food for the youth club, which netted me another 2. Might use 2nd purse funds to stock up on non-perishables in order to use them. Is this false economy hmmmm?

Off to get the tea started. Red Thai Chicken Curry nomnomnom.

    Evening everyone

Well, my total so far this month is £155.07 and my month ends on Thursday so I'm thinking I must have forgotten to write something down or lost some receipts as that's way too good for me!!

Made some parssnip and chorizo soup for tea and have got some left over for tomorrow. Yesterday OH made a turkey, sweet potato and parsnip curry which was delicious (can you tell we've got some parsnips to eat up!).

Going to read the August thread now as if I don't keep up with it from the start I won't keep up with it at all, but will declare my total here on Thus.

Hope everyone's enjoying the sunshine. x

After my spend of £17 for grocerys this week (for 2, though I already had in meat) I was wondering if I had enough food in the house! (I am ALWAYS looking for food to eat, I have a desire to eat constantly )

But, I'm really pleased with myself tonight, I found a packet of sugar free jelly and made this up for something sweet with strawberries I picked from our garden!

I also found a soup mix , So I'm soaking these overnight, and going to add in some onions and mushrooms I had left over from last week, It'll also use up my frozen chicken stock I made awhile ago! This will see me though my lunches :)

I also have some tomatoes and cucumber, that I realised I can mix with red and green lettuce from the garden :)

No grocery spends today :) OH made a very cheesy mac & cheese with broccoli for dinner (it's the first time he's made it and used so much cheese it wasn't frugal but was super tasty!). We're going to see Batman tomorrow so only have less than an hour and a half to make and eat dinner after work, so cooked up a batch of rice tonight to make fried rice tomorrow.

Doing well so far this month so just need to keep going! One more shop left on Sunday.

  • Hi All. Although I don't manage to keep up with the thread all the time or post, I am still keeping an eye on my Food bill. This month I have come in under budget and am aiming to get to Sunday with only having to buy a bag of carrots or tomatoes (depends on which soup I fancy for lunch towards the end of the week). OH gets paid tomorrow so I will be starting my new month from then. Going to try for £130 for August please.

Well Friday was payday so the start of next month for me I'm going for £200 again for August. I've already spent £36 in Mr A on Saturday that included £4 for a box of 32 walkers crisps (well it gives DH something to snack on) some cat treats and I got YS jars of tabasco olives and a green olive tapenarde not sure what to do with either of these but I love olives. I then dropped £10 in Mr T but £5.76 of that was for a massive box of teabags, another DH essential.

I've away from home again this week for work so no spending there then. Fingers crossed I've got enough stuff in the cupboards and freezer to keep us going for another week when I get back.

£2.79 to add to my total today for a few bits. £142.73/£200 - last week of the month too.

Aiming to keep out of the supermarket for next two days and then just the birthday tea and one last weekly shop to do. And with over a quarter of my budget still to play with!!

Happy to report an NSD today! BUT will need to buy some yoghurts, cooked meat and a couple of other things tomorrow - that should be the last shop of the month so I'll declare then.

Too hot to do anything majorly special for tea, so I've cheated and bought (the other day) a jar of sweet & spicy marinade and will do turkey skewers with salad. Flaked out on the floor atm!

    Have a lovely evening
