I'll also be getting more of the Greenes items. I will go just before closing to see what YS there are.
A YS guinea fowl has come out of the freezer for dinner. I'm hoping to get a dinner today and then a curry for 4 out of it.

Thanks soworried - I was just going through the motions of finding it so I could say how to do it!! Hope you find something useful katy+5

I'm debating whether to make today a nsd or not... I could go to leedl and get some of their sausages, and I need a little bbq for weds, which they have for 99p this weekend. However, I could also just as easily not get the sausages, and buy the bbq on weds when I get some rolls for it... Decisions, decisions!!

I have just spent some time updating my figures in the signature, and I am pleased to note that my daily allowance has gone right up. Have had a busy, stressful month or so, and it has meant I haven't really wanted to do shopping. Result!! Also, my mountain of food has become slightly more containable. Once the children are at their dad's this evening, I am going to empty out my cupboard under the stairs, and inventory the whole stash. This pile WILL become more manageable! I am also going to redo my what-I'm-allowed-to-stock-up-on list. Then, I shall somehow store this electronically, so that I can refer to it when shopping at a store. Any ideas how I can do this?! (Would be such a shame if I had to buy myself an iphone or an ipad!!!)

    Have a great day everyone,

I so didn't know the shops would be open for longer! What a cool idea! I was thinking I couldn't shop today because of dropping the children off at their dad's at half four, but I can go afterwards now. I don't really want to take the ch shopping on their first weekend of the hols! Thanks for that info.

Just popped on to say that I'm in the middle of making a batch of the Millie's Cookies - ran out of caster sugar halfway through - whoops. I've made up the remainder with icing sugar so I'm really hoping they work! I was determined NOT to go shopping today :D

Will let you know how they turn out.

    K xx

ETA - They've turned out just fine, if a little sweeter than normal. Texture is fine, taste is OK (better with usual sugar but they're being eaten!) and it saved me going to the shops. Result.

Mr A delivery arrived and was £59.66, slightly cheaper than estimated so have updated sig. So chuffed as I've will got £50 of budget left, only 9 days left of the month, and a kitchen crammed with food! Will only need a small shop next weekend and most of it will then be consumed in the first few days of August anyway. Hoping I can reduce budget slightly next month too, maybe to £225 or something, which seems so low for us but fingers crossed!

Made a batch of twinks hobnobs (yum), gutted the kitchen and put away the grocery delivery this morning. Just heading out to the gym, then the real cooking starts when I get back! Making roast chicken for dinner with HM gravy and HM sage and onion stuffing, braised red cabbage, roasties and hopefully baby carrots from garden if ready (normal carrots from Mr A if not!). Also got to make a batch of soup tonight for lunches (will be butternut squash, coconut and chilli as I have coconut milk to use up) and maybe a loaf of bread too. Sunday is the day I devote just to food lol!

Last shop of the month! £17.50!

It was essentials only this week, you know, food to live! Really really restricted because I only had £20 left in my bank untill friday/saturday (depending on banks)
Here's my main meals for the week:

    Monday: Cornbeef and potato
    Tuesday: Spanish Chicken
    Wednesday: Sausage Casseole
    Thrusday: Fish cakes and chips
Friday: Salt and pepper chicken legs/thighs/wings and savoury rice
    Saturday: Chicken Casserole

We already had the cornbeef and chicken in the house, so todays shop was items for lunch, fresh food, bread, fruit, sausages etc

Next month I've decided that although I cook everything from scratch, I need to spend wiser, I'm going to try and make a 4 week meal plan, and take cash from the bank instead of using my card, shop twice, instead of 4 times. and change my food budget to £150, instead of £130.

Thankfully my dog was not ill after eating the entire loaf of bread! (I was soo worried it would swell in her stomach and cause her to be excessivly ill) and very peed I couldn't have any toast for breakfast the next day!! :P She was a stray, so I think she has the mentality of "Eat what ever I can, when i can"

    I'm pooped.

Kids have earned money today. Told em they has to help me out for their pocket money today. They mowed a lawn and weeded the play area.

I was up to the elbows in mucky mud, searching for potatoes and OH reminded me that it was the inlaws' anniversary TODAY! I thight it was next week  I am not taking this out of my grocery spend though.

Kids and I dash to the car caked in grime and got a bistro set from wilkos. The sprogs had to help me carry it to the car (to earn £££s ;))

Collected my icecream maker from a freecycler. Had a nice chat about allotments and self sufficiency. Lovely couple. I then got excited as I noticed self heal growing in their lawn. They didn't know what it was. She actually offered to dig some out for me:j I was chuffed to bits :)
I am going to put it in my own lawn later!!!!!

    Woohoo!

Roast dinner later with my beef slices that I have previously portioned and froze for quickness. Mmmm :)
