Just browsing on af and am in 2 minds about ordering cause of the dates?
please help :-)
The food dates or the delivery dates? I've never had a problem with any stuff even some things i have which are now almost 2 years out of date. As long as tins aren't bashed up it will be okay.
or do you mean delivery dates? You get a text giving you the option of having it delivered on one of four days
Have a purseful of receipts from mr A to sort out. I sent OH through self scan with coupons while I did the big shop and stocked up on tins and pasta. I'm not sure what happened but I ended up having to visit customer service to sort it out. They were really helpful and let me put through all the missed coupons and refunded me some overcharged bits. Got some YS bagged salad, avocado, prepped fruit & veg for 10p each- my favourite reductions, feels so luxurious as I would never shell out for stuff like that usuallyLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

My friend made me this a couple of weeks ago - she added a little golden syrup and some dark chocolate as we were feeling naughty

I know it sounds daft, but I've always just used value cheapy ones, but they're not at all strong enough for my rough and ready freezer. They tend to easily spilt especially when I'm ramming more stuff in
I use the cheapy ones inside the resealable ones. EG for chicken breats, one goes into each cheap bag, then the bags go into the resealable one, which is labelled up.hello all,
feeling quite smug with myself at the min as have copied PGs (i think!) idea of kids choose what they wantt for tea on a friday. They told me last night they wanted soup and so tonight i have made hm tomato soup with onions, tinned toms, greek yog and basil from the garden and with it i finally got round to make JJ herby cheese bread and OMG it is so simple and so lovely and most importantly THE KIDS LOVE IT :rotfl: Clean plates all round and no shopping for extra bits and so a nsd too :j
Me and DH are having curry later which is on the stove as we speak. A good day today

Awesome news! And yes, it was my idea you used - I love getting the children to choose; they need to learn to make decisions, etc.jumblejack wrote: »Wowsers!!!!!!!:j

Wow!! I have brought some bananas home from work today too, BUT no space in the freezer!!
NSD, and was pleased with myself about our do tonight. I took a hm quiche, and a bottle of lemonade I'd won at a tombola! Cheap and cheerful.
Shopping tomorrow, but will be cycling as long as it's not raining.Grocery challenge for family of three - me, dd(12) and ds(11), feeding dp 2 or 3 x a week too. Only food, not toiletries. Jan £87.97/£100 Feb £0/£100

Good Morning Everyone.
Access has been a bit sparse the last few days as I'm in the middle of a big clean of the house and will be for a good few days yet. I've got to sit down at some point today and do a mealplan, shopping list and freezer stocktake to use it up (the chest freezer REALLY needs defrosting!)
Anyway, managed a small spend in the last day or so of £7 on yoghurts and a couple of ready meals (groan) for today. Neither of us are going to have time to cook something substantial so I splashed out, particularly as I haven't had time to make them. It's still cheaper than getting a takeaway and is an incredibly rare occurrence so I'm not too fussed. Must keep a close rein on my spending next week though as I'm in danger of slipping into bad habits and worse, going overbudget big time.
I'll go update my sig now. Should we need something else for tea (doubt it) I've taken some minced beef out and will have a go at making a minced beef & onion pie to have with mashed potatoes and some carrots from the freezer. I WILL run down my stocks!
Have a lovely day, all. I'll check in when I can. The good news is that this weekend should be a solid 2 NSDs.

Little-miss-moneysaver I use A*di freezer bags i think they are fab- strong but not too expensive!!
I also use the Ald1 freezer bags too, the larger size, and they are really good and strong. I also use the self seal ones from £stretcher which are good for small items.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Hi everyone,
Will be spending today as we are having chilli this evening and I need kidney beans and green pepper. Will also get the ingredients for 'pasta Jon' - named after my DH as he will be cooking this tomorrow. Will post the recipe up later. It is nom.
Have got some puff pastry out of the freezer and will be making bacon and cheese puffs for lunch.

Morning, peeps
Hope all are fine n dandy.
Anyone for any good ideas of what to do with cooked prawns? I don't eat em. I pulled them out of the freezer for OHs packed lunch but he wanted beef in his salad box instead, ggrr. I can't refreeze them and I've never cooked with them before. I haven't any fish in otherwise it's be a fish pie. They were only 36p YS but even so. It's a shame to waste them.
Definitely doing the thumbprint cookies and/or jam tarts today with my gone wrong jelly as didn't get round to it last night. Felt burnt out.
Need to make something for a savoury contribution for tomorrow too. Not sure whether to do the cheesy herb bread, buffet size version with deli ham, etc or go for mini savoury tartlets? Both are cheap. Perhaps both and then I could freeze a few??? Decisions. Decisions.
Hope everyone is more decided than me with the days plans.
Have a great start to the weekend, peeps.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

Regarding slimming world, how unusual! Surely the temperature doesn't affect the calories etc.
I believe it's to do with breaking down the food so that it doesn't make your body do the work re. digesting the fibre content etc - I think that's why cooked or tinned fruit isn't free food either. But I'm very out of date with SW (and not very slim either!) so I may be wrong. It is of course very low syn, but while a banana is free food and technically you can eat as many as you like (or could - as I say I am out of date), freezing it makes it synned.0 -

Date-wise, the only thing I've had a problem with from AF is the ready to wok noodles. I recently had to throw them out as the oil n the noodles had gone rancid.0
