  • Welcome to the Telephone Boards ;)

Firstly and most important its 18866 and not 118866 as that particular number is a very expensive directory enquires number!

To use both www.call1899.co.uk and www.call18866.co.uk you need to make sure your BT account is option1 paying just the basic line rental at £10.50 per month if you pay by dd.

All this means is that your calls will go through either of those companies provided you use the appropriate number before dialing and won't affect your broadband in any way.

Just today 18866 have increased their connection charge to 3p per call so at the moment it means there is no difference between 1899 and 18866 for geographical UK calls.

Just ask if you have any more questions regarding this icon7.gif
Thanks, I knew I'd got the numbers wrong somehow! yeah it's BT option1, I'll get that sorted then.Do you find Virgin Broadband best, seems cheap enough, always seems to work ok and I think we're not tied in to anything more than 1 month notice?
  • CALL 18866 Have increased their connection charge from 2p per call to 3p per call in-line with Call 1899.

This now makes 1899 the all-round winner for calls as 18866's mobile charge is still 12p/min while 1899's remains at 10p/min & 3p/min on the weekends.

Check it out and change now as I have.

I wouldn't actually change but run both of them as its quite likely that 1899 increase their connection charge too ;)

One thing in favour of 18866 is that you can pay by D/D where as you cant with 1899 or 18185.
    PF.
  • Now that 18866 have increased their connection fee, I am starting to rethink things.

We have BT (option 1) and Talk Talk (option 1). This gives us free weekend calls for the cheapest bt line rental.

I use voipbuster to make free calls with free connection when ever I can, but it's a bit of a pain having to be attached to my pc.

Are there any providers out there that are offering evening calls for free for no fee? Talk Talk gave me this for a year but now I'd have to pay to get free evening calls.

Did you ask Talk Talk to extend your free evening and weekend calls .
If you phone TT ,get the option team ,say you are moving to another providor ( you decide who ) you should get another offer . Try to phone TT when you think they wont be as busy . They can give you an extra 3 ,6 or 12 months. It depends on the TT operator and how insistent you are about leaving. Some people on here have had to try three time before they got an extention ,I got a 12 month extention first time . Dont phone TT and ask for a better deal you wont get it .You have to say you are leaving ,and sound like you mean it .When you phone TT you may be put on hold a few times dont worry about it .
  • I said I was leaving Talk Talk because I had found another deal that was free evening and weekend calls for free and Talk Talk were only offering me free weekend calls. They said sorry there was nothing they could do. So I said, ok then- your loss. I am going with Just-dial now.

  • Is it me or have I missed something? Dialwise.co.uk is offering free call via 0774 54 42 300. Is it free or 'free', in that you still have to pay a hefty pence per minute access cost? They are calls to the UK, Sweden, Bulgaria etc. Has anyoune tried them? Do they cost? I can't believe the web site - nothing is for nothing in this world - or is it?

This was discussed here. Calls to the 07 access number will not be free at all despite what they have put. It may (i use the word 'may' cautiously) be apart of inclusive minutes on some networks.
