We have Good Housekeepings's Family Meals for A Fiver.
Brilliant ideas on lovely meals, plus at the start list inventories on stuff to keep in your cupboards, fridge and freezer along with tips on how to make them last longer. Also lists what's in season on any given month and suggests a weekly meal plan for you etc.
I love it!0 -
For Christmas, I was given the new Sainsbury's recipe book. It is only £5, and a lot of the ingredients in the recipes are the 'Basics' (Sainsbury's own) brand, so the dishes can work out quite cheap really."Your life is what your thoughts make it"

Hey guys,
Just looking for some ideas for recipe books that don't involve too many expensive ingredients?
Any Suggestions welcome please!
I'd recommend borrowing books from your library until you find ones you really want to buy
I have a folder of tried and tested recipes, some printed from the internet and some from magazines.
I'll add this to the existing thread to give you more ideas.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
I really love the Jamie Oliver book Minisrty of Food, lots of basic and simple recipes that don't break the bank. Also Economy Gastronomy has lots of good ideas on how to be more organised and save money with food

Well I think the tile says it all,
Ive have so many cookbooks that I don't really use at the minute, Its my own fault, I've got an addiction. Delia, Nigella, Jamie, Hairy bikers, you name it I've probably got it. I love looking at them and reading them but I really need to start actually using them.
I had a look through my economy gastronomy one last night and ive decided that i'm going to buy a shoulder of pork in the tomato sauce as I did actually get round to making that one and it was really nice. Same with the Veal parmigana (though I make mine with chicken) from jamies' America.
I really want to try one out of the new hummingbird Cake days book, Does anybody have any opinons on whats a nice recipe from it, probably one that the kids will like.
To be honest any ideas from any of these books would be nice
Hummingbird Cake Days
Economy Gastronomy
Nigella Kitchen and feast
Jamies America and 30 minute meals
River Cottage Family cookbook
