I think I tend to use the celebrity cook books for fancier things rather than day to day stuff so will be interested to know how it goes! Enjoy and please report back0

Have you done the Ham in Cola recipe? I can't remember which Nigella book it's in though.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0

Hi I have done quite a few recipes from Hugh's River Cottage family cookbook:- The white bread and raisin loaf (both done in the bread maker on the quick cook setting - lush). Pizza, Scones, Rice pudding (quadruple the recipe and make in my slow cooker unless a Sunday and making a roast) and the Lentil and Bacon soup for lots of people. There are so many in there that I want to try but I just enjoy reading it. Have many other celebrity cookbooks and also just read them - but my family cookbook looks well used especially on those pages lol!0

Thanks everyone.
Had a good look through a few of my books last night at the reccomended recipes and going to start making a few this week.
Tommorrow i'm going to start with the raisin loaf (HFW)and the roast shoulder of pork (economy Gastronomy). One midweek dinner is going to be the bolagnaise rissotto (Nigella, the kids will love this recipe). Cant decide which cake to try from the hummingbird book as they all look so nice so might start with a really easy one.
I keep coming back to the ham in cola but never been brave enough to try it, is it really that nice? We love baked ham but couldn't forgive myself if i ruined it.March 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000
