I for one welcome our new corporate overlords.poppy100

sad but it was coming
the debt forums have been getting cleaned up and shoved into line for the last year or so, certain topics are banned and moderated into greasy spots. The true opinion of banks has also been toned down and really outrageous and cruel pro bank stance posts have been allowed to stand.
The premise of this site's ability to supply help over a wide variety of subjects where the consumer is the small guy has been gradually eroded recently, it's obvious Martin, which side your really on and it ain't the consumer. However, as has been said before the value in forums is the members and THEIR knowledge, not MSE's, us the members, people who come back time and time again to offer help and assistance to people in dire circumstances. and martin you've sold us, how dare you???More than Two Years in
Doing it the Niddy way:j:j:j0 -
so no one thinks its a good thing? its written into the contract re: the impartiality and martin stays on for years. Whats you major malfunction MSE'ers?Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -

I've hesitated to say it, but alot of these people are obviously plants, giving the newpapers something to say.
And something else presumably......... if you weren't part of the MSE community, ie, you didn't give advice, or discuss things, you have nothing to complain about, so go back to the hole you were in before.
It's ridiculous, you have people complaining about the loss of the community when they were never a part of it to begin with.
I dare say many of these posts will end up in tomorrows papers as a cross section of MSE contributors.
Daft
I don't agree with everything you say, but you have a point. All these newbies posting inflammatory comments make you wonder. Those who are new and are posting to contribute to the discussion are welcome as fare as I'm concerned, but the others.. well we know your game.
Anyone who's genuinely used the website can only thank Martin, and perhaps be sad about the future.
As far as this site's independence, in a way little has changed, if you get 60% of your revenue (through clicks) from one source, in a way they already 'own' a piece of you, so maybe it won't change that much?
who knows.
Personally I'll wait and see, but at the first wiff of biased (well more biased than before let's say) advice I'm off. And will keep an eye what other people (media, blogs etc) say about this site.
Maybe I will take things with a pinch of salt, less be naive. Nobody does anything for free, and I was happy if the price for this 'free' advice was money made through clicks (didn't know how much though )0 -

Once the independence is lost no one will trust it, Lewis is needed as a figurehead. Without him the site is lost.
It's sad, but I don't blame Lewis, if any one of us were offered that kind of money we would accept it too.
I completely agree.
No Martin and No Independance = No MSE. :-(0 -
Love the comments on here, soooo many displeased folks having to announce their departure from the website.Just don't come back if you are that disgusted/displeased/jealous,nobody is forcing you to stay!
I'm not bothered who Martin sold the website too or for how much,I'm very glad he didn't decide one day to pull the plug on the whole thing.
Think you gotta ask yourselves how much have you personally saved by coming on this website? Instead of being drama queens with your dramatic flounces and whining like a 2 year old who can't get their own way.
This is the Internet people, get off your backsides and sort your own lives out before tying that noose for Martin.Debt Free Date:10/09/2007 :j :money:0 -
It should be Martin Lewis' moneymakingexpert.com0

Yes and no really...it is a question of integrity and he sadly lacked it in bucket fulls....
Option one: Ask on here what is best way forward, discuss the offer, continue to be a people champion...maybe float the company, offer shares to its great community
or
Option 2: Screw you all, I have got a family to feed and I had with all the hassle and hard work......You have the right to remain silent.Anything you do say will be misquoted and then used against you
Knowledge will give you power, but character respect.

I really hope the site does not change but I can not see how it can stay the same. MS will want to recoup there money in some way.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0
