I was thinking of getting a chest freezer too, but I rarely empty the one I have and things can lie in there for ages as it is. (three drawer) In the end I dont think it,s worth it I would just hoard stuff. If someone was giving a decent one away I would probably nab it.
Good idea,I will look out for a free one.
I have just applied to join the local freecycle group via yahoo groups.Hopefully I will be collecting a free chest freezer soon."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
Hi
Can I join please - I've been a 'lurker' for a few months now and am ready to knuckle down and join you all - with a gentle £240 for the four-weeks starting from 1 Feb - that's for 3 adults, plus a dog.
Good luck to everyone.0 -
Hi and welcome Ess-six,
you will love it on here, lots of tips and recipes from everyone and popping back every so often really helps to keep you motivated.
I would honestly be lost without everyones support and help.
Good luck.

Welcome Essex-six
MHE I did a lot of searching about breadmakers but ended up buying a panasonic that was briefly on special offer before Xmas for £50. I have to say it is fantastic and pretty much idiot proof. The only thing worth considering for you is that a cooked loaf takes 4 hours (2 on rapid bake but I didn't like it as much). It's true you can use it to make a lot of different types of bread - I've focused mainly on regular pan loaves and italian breads and they've all come out really well, although I have to say the italian stuff is nicer done as dough and cooked in the oven. I really like the crunchiness of the crust on the loaves too.
Pizza dough takes 45 mins in it but tbh I prefer my own jamie oliver recipe - see this post for details http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=161747
I find it really really easy to make, especially if you have a food processor with a dough attachment (although it was pretty easy to make by hand as well). I use pizza stones by the way and really swear by them, it was a worthwhile investment cos we eat pizza at least once, if not twice, a week.
My report for the GC - I have a MrT delivery of about £50 of basics arriving tonight - this hopefully is enough heavy stuff to do 2 months. I've also already spent £11.21 on special offers in both sainsburys and our local spar so that makes a total of just over £60. Will update sig after I get the confirmed MrT price.0 -

Ok i need some help. i set my target for Jan expecting to come under as i only joined mid Jan i have spent £154.59 so think considering what i would have had left for a full month that wasn't to bad.
Now my questions - my spend was on food/freezer only. so this month do i budget for cleaning stuff and dog food or do i keep to the same Food/Freezer only. i have started to use the spending dairy so this will probably help me to work things out better next month what do i do ??
Thanks

Hi, I'd like to join in again this month. It seems the only way to keep me on the straight and narrow. My budget is £160 again for three adults and seventeen year old son.
I don't know if anyone already mentioned in the discussion about bread makers but it may be best to try Freecycle first as many people buy them and never use them. Mine is about 6 years old and was the cheapest I could find at the time and is still going well. to clean it I bought a wallpaper scraper to take off any crusty stuff and just use kitchen roll beyond this.
They do sometimes show up in lidl/aldi on offer....0 -
Spent £5.70 in tesco on essentials - loo roll, porridge oats etc (tried the tesco value ones), umm and cream cakes (reduced though).
Then got lured into newsagents by OH on way home from midwifes and spent another 3 quid on heat magazine for god's sake, and hobnobs.
Next week we have to find 60 quid from somewhere for OH to get into work, but I'm sure there's only about £40 in his account. Our budgetting is really really rubbish! Will be most annoying if he has to go overdrawn and gets hit with a charge. :mad:2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0
