I spent £3.05 at Asda tonight so it looks like I might manage to come in on budget, which I'm really pleased about it being my first month.

Count me in for £200 again in march please.

Keep up the good work everyone.

I hide lentils etc in mince dishes to bulk these out and decrease the meat portion, also the basic tomato meat sauce that is used for alot of our mince dishes has not only lentils but also grated carrot added in.

Sorry if I appear dim but do you just throw dried lentils in with the meat or do they need soaking before? Also how much can you put in unnoticed into, say, a 4 portion shepherds pie or spag bol?
    Thanks.

I won't be able to do the March list, not got enough time on my hands at the minute (I'm still on page 18 working through finding the February ones) but if someone else would like to do it you are more than welcome to. The thread is usually posted closer to the end of the month, I'm sure it'll make it much easier for whoever does the list to post your targets when the March thread is up, very confusing when people post them in the previous months challenge.
One day I might be more organised...........

    Morning all

Can declare my final total for this month is €103.64 out of €130 as i have no need for anything before we start the March challenge:T ..hubby has just announced that his pay should go in on Monday, but im not listening as thats only the 25th...and im not spending a single cent until the 1st:rotfl: ....hubby thinks im losing the plot..and he could be right -but im not telling him that ;)

LIL_ME.... if no-one else can do it i don't mind doing the list for march (if its ok with everyone else) and then you can have the job back when you want it .... daft question.... do i just do a normal post at the begining of the month and then keep editing it to add more names etc??? :p
I would probably find it helpfull actually -as i would have to makes sure i read every post so i didn't miss anyone :rotfl:

  • Hi all

Bails-please dont resort to eating your own arm-I'm sure MSE does not condone cannibalism:eek:

Lil-me-Thanks for the sterling job you have done-I'm sure your little fingers need a rest:T

    Heres my update

Had to spend a further £8.68 for the week commencing 15/02 so only had £1.30 left to spend for the rest of February.

I don't feel too bad as DH has been at home poorly for 2 weeks and DS was on half term holiday from school for a week as well so probably ate more than when at school. I was also under budget last month so I suppose it's swings and roundabouts in that respect.

Spent £42.18 today but freezer is now full again!

Altogether I have overspent by £40.88 but hopefully my first shop for March(which will be on payday next Friday)will only need to be a small one.

Need to also need to think about buying Easter eggs and something nice for dinner on Easter Day.We normally have lamb so will need to keep an eye out for any bargains on that.

Well done to those who are on or under budget and chin up to those who are over-there's always next month! Will post my target on the March thread when it is up and running-see you over there!
  • I'm determined NOT to draw any more money for the rest of the month so after this weeks month has gone if we ain't got it they cant eat it!!!

So i will declare myself £40 over budget for the month, that is an improvement on January so im pleased as even if im still over im heading in the right direction and its WAY better than i was doing last year.:T
