    Thank Mrs Mcawber

My absolute fav is kung po chicken and chicken with cashews and yellow bean suace. We always have s&s chicken balls and deep fried crispy chilli beef and seaweed. I have an oriental cookbook but have never used it  . If you have an easy recipe that would be fantastic :j . There's five in our family but only 3 of us eat the chinese as the 2 little ones are in bed by then. There's normally some left over for my youngest sons lunch. We went to an all-you-can-eat chinese buffet yesterday for my oldest sons birthday and my little one (age 6) ate the most:eek: . My daugher (5) only had prawn crackers, mini donuts and chocolate fountain (not all together).

Try this thread for S & S sauce. I did it last week and it really is like the stuff you get at the take away. LINK

  • Waddy - what was the post number of the recipe that you used on that link? We love s & s and I'd love to try making it myself. :)

    Hi All
I have a Prima breadmaker which is probably around 5 years old. It has'nt been used all that time because our old kitchen was too small to have it out so it's in good condition and I've only recently started using it regularly. The trouble is I am finding it really hard to get the loaf out of the tin at the end of the cooking time as it seems to be stuck! There are 2 kneading blades at the bottom which leave large holes in my loaf especially as I have to wiggle them around to help loosen the loaf. Does anyone have any idea how I can get it out with less effort? If I grease the tin (which is already non-stick coated) it would all be absorbed into the dough by the time the baking starts. Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, I tried making potato wedges today. The normal pots turned out lovely but the sweet potatoes were soggy and floppy! What am I doing wrong?

Haven't spent much on food lately as the freezer and cupboards are full but I had to buy a sack of spuds and a few bits of veg from a farm shop (spuds were £3 for 12.75kg.

Sorry to hear you people with dogs are having trouble with smells! Our cat will only really eat Tesco own brand cat food and despite tricking him with Sainsbury's, Lidl or other special offer pouches he goes on hunger strike until we get him what he likes!

Anyway off to bed now. Bye all.

ohh me too - what have you made! Just done a very ice merlot but unsure if its a good idea TBH as dont actually think having copious amounts of wine avail is a good idea for liver or waistline!! Have you made from scratch?

I have made quite a few kits... Merlot, Rioja, Chardonnay, Savignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio... All have turned out quite good. Although, I bought a brilliant book a couple of weeks ago, so I can see where I can improve. ;)

I recently started making wine from fruit juice, which is proving more testing for me:o . At the moment I have 2 cranberry one, an apple and a pineapple on the go. The cranberry ones had stopped fermenting. But thanks to the nice lady in the homebrew shop and some other patient people I have managed to get it started again :o
I hope to try making it from tinned fruit within the next month, as I want to be able to make it from scratch in the summer when all the summer fruits are available :o
I have to admit .. I do give quite a few bottles away.
Not very MSE, but it is nice to be nice :o:D

 Apologies again for not being around much, and for just posting a hit and run update now. :o

We've just done a proper shop (£52.97) so the cupboards aren't quite so alarmingly bare, but we bought just what we needed, and no treats as I'm trying to be really strict this month.

(I did get some special offer frozen pizzas - but that's takeaway insurance so that we don't weaken and order in. :o )

I'm not doing badly for 11 days to go though!

    Love Jacks xxx :D

Hi Thebees - Sweet potatoes don't crisp up like normal tatties, they go nice and caramelized but not crunchy, so you did nothing wrong there. ;)

The prima breadmaker was the first one I had and I had the same problem. I didn't grease the bread tin but did grease (well I used that spraylight stuff) the inside of the paddle. Solved the problem for me. :D
