  • I'm always on the look out for cheap milk as we seem to get through so much. I went to Iceland this morning and they have 4pts for £1.10 (27.5p per pint) at the moment.

Previously the cheapest I could find was £1.96 for 6pts (33p per pint).

OK trying hard not to go to the shops today. We don't need anything but it's a habit.

Have made Twinks hobnobs, choc chip cookies and make some homemade bread - well tesco's crusy white mix. Having the bread with some gammon left from Christmas (obviously frozen) with potatoes.
So little money - so much time

I have only done one shop since I started on the 2nd, so it looks like I'm doing well, but that shopping trip was so overwhelming I've been scared to go out since. It was a good shop at Lidl's though, and I got 2 packets of prepackaged salad for free :j so was happy about that. I need to get some fruit and veg in, and want to get a chicken, but I'm having to wait until my friend is available to take me to Asda (I am not getting the bus to go shopping again).

Hi Danni, I once did a big shop on the bus, and it was truly awful  never again! Its a tortuous bus trip to get to any decent supermarket so I have one tesco online shop a month and then I'm able to top up locally. I'm lucky that I have a decent gg, butcher and small coop locally (co op is small and too expensive to use for a big shop though) ;)

violent-smiley-1418.gif. Well that's my budget blown to pieces and we've still got 2 weeks left. OH went to Mr S today with a list and came back with nearly £15 worth of extras. His excuse?... they were on offer!! Ok, so we'll use most of it, but what's the point of a list and budget if you ignore them? .

I must admit that this months budget did include 2 chinese takeaways (£24.10 and £27.10) and fish & chips (£13.00). That's over £75 shocked-smiley-9456.gif. Next month I think we'll only have a takeaway if there's any money left in the budget (this will be hard as I am so addicted to my takeaways!!!)

I'm going to make a quiche later today which I haven't done for a few years. Since I've been on this thread I've done so much more baking and my OH is very happy with the results :j .
I have several cans of tinned meat (stewed steak) and i'm not mad about it on its own...anyone any ideas of what i can do with it to slightly disguise the flavour?
I'm not sure if turning it into a stew with swede etc would work:confused:

Hi BLTN, you could always make a pie or pasties, or just put mash on top and make a cottage/shepherds pie type dish. If you add some tomato puree to it this may take the 'edge' off the flavour ;) .

HMMMMM???I think I am going to have to put the dogs back on the more expensive dry mix complete food. The ingredients on this WAGG food is almost identical to the stuff I bought before but they dont half stink now.It must be the food.
    .

Yeah it probably is the food. MY mum used to feed her dog WAGG and had the same problem with smells.

Well its a mixture of problems really which coincided with the change of food, the very bad wind type smell, definate increase in flatulence, their behaviour seems to have become quite silly infact I would say mental(one of them has even started chasing his tail)and their coats are losing their shine and feeling greasy despite the same grooming routine. They are also developing scavenging habits as though they are still hungry after being fed(the wag food is heavier so just 4 cups gives tham 600g whereas with the previous food it was 6 cups).
I am changing back to the tesco premium dry complete food, its still very affordable in the large bags and definately suited them better.
Try the cheaper food if you like but maybe just a small bag to start off with to see how it affects your pet.

Just wanted to add that hubby says the Wagg food had Yucca in it which is supposed to make the dogs smell nicer but I definately think Wagg is having the opposite effect on our boys.

    Thanks shelovestobuystuff,
i`ll look for another type to mix in with my two`s food.

    Hi purplevamp...

What kind of dishes do you like from the Chinese takeaway? only i have some great recipes, and they don't have to involve loads of time in the kitchen ;)
I know its not the same as getting one "ready to eat", but maybe OH would have a bash at 1 :D ....
I did crispy duck n pancakes the other week, and there was that much that 2/3 of the duck went into the freezer along with 10 pancakes... so next time hubby fancies it..its a 2 minute job :p ...
if there is only you n OH then you would be able to make one dish and freeze 2 portions for another time , like i do:j

Let me know if you want any recipes and i will dig you some out :D

Another NSD for me woopee!!!!! Not done a roast today as I really can't be bothered. Will have a beef stew in the slow cooker for tea tomorrow. I'm off to search for dumpling recipies. Unless anyone has a good one?
