I'll also do jacket potatoes in the slow cooker tomorrow morning so we can have those before we go to the match, these can be cooking whilst DS2 at footie training and DH at work.
Have updated signature.
Hello mama67, how do you do jacket potatoes in the slow cooker? I'm intrigued!!

Hello and welcome - the only hint I've got is to read the posts on here - some of the ideas are amazing, I've seen recipes for things I never dreamed of making before and our tummies are fuller and so is my purse!!
Good Luck

No water or liquids needed.
I do them for approx ¾ hour in oven then wrap individually in foil put in on low and they will finish cooking in approx 2- 3 hours all depends on size and quantity of potatoes. They would keep on low for approx extra hour if you weren't back in time.
You can also do from uncooked, poke with a knife all over wrap in foil put in slowcooker on low 8 - 10 hours or high 3-4 hours.
I do them in oven first as it crisp the skin up a little.

Hi everyone hope you are all having a good weekend.
My OH and I decided to go to York today but I haven't seen it so crowded for years. We didn't spend a penny except for lunch - which was out of the 'treats' budget.
On the way home we stopped off at Mr M to get a lottery ticket so of course I ended up with reduced pies, sausage rollls and bread rolls.
WIll have to go to Lidl tomorrow for dog food and some soft drinks but otherwise I shoudn't have to shop until monday or tuesday. :T
This thread is having such a good influence on me - you are all such an inspiration - and the encouragement is priceless...:A
Thanks everyone0 -
So pleased I managed some batch cooking at the start of the month... I've overspent but I think I can get back on top of things by eating meals out the freezer and making up meals of random ingredients.
Gotta stop treating myself to take away jacket potatoes at work... but its so cold there
Thanks for all the great recipes everyone, i'm going to look now for some ideas

Hi, me again.
i`m not very happy with myself at all as i came in under budget and was planning a £15 week for next week and everything was sorted.
Then i went to Morrisons:mad:
I now have an extra spend of over £30!!!!
Ok this wasn`t all out of the grocery budget but some was and i need to sit down and work it out and alter my plans.
I`ve been devious so now i plan to juggle the figures and move some of the dogfood money into next month as prevously planned and instead of the £15 week next week i`m just going to start the March challenge and stick with the paydays thing, the extra week is what got me into a mess in the first place and i need to stick to my guns and stop changing my plans oh i`m so mad with myelf :mad::mad:
I`ll update my sig later when i have had chance to sit down with the reciepts and work things out.
On a lighter note i now have a new frying pan i`ve not had one for years but wanted to make Mrs Mcawbers tortillas so i bought one:D my last one got slung out of the door in a fit of rage
The one thing spoiling it is that i can`t get the sticker off the inside, i`ve soaked it overnight in bio washing powder, all day in fairy liquid and hot water, tried a nylon scrubber, nail polish remover and even a very light scrub with a brillo pad and still some of the glue remains! Think i`m just gonna use it and see - either that or take it back to Morrisons and ask them why they put labels on the inside of pans with superglue!
Catch up later guys & gals, hope you all have a lovely Sunday!

done really well so far and only spent £22.87 however thats not due to being great at MS its due to necessity  car broke ( so thats wages and all savings now gone:eek:)and has left me with £5 and what ever shrapnel I can find round the house until payday! Something tells me its going to be a very long 2 weeks.
So I'm off to do a full food stock inventory and see if theres anyway I can manage with a min spend, so I'll probs be back later for help
Plus if nothing else I get to sort out my wardrobe whilst I hunt for pennies:rotfl:
Well done to everyone whose still under budget and dont fret to those who are over just remember how much you were spending before:DJune Grocery Challenge 270.80/250July Grocery Challenge 0/3000 -
I have only done one shop since I started on the 2nd, so it looks like I'm doing well, but that shopping trip was so overwhelming I've been scared to go out since. It was a good shop at Lidl's though, and I got 2 packets of prepackaged salad for free :j so was happy about that. I need to get some fruit and veg in, and want to get a chicken, but I'm having to wait until my friend is available to take me to Asda (I am not getting the bus to go shopping again).
I just wish I could do some proper cooking, but I can't stand for long enough to do any, and my hands are playing up. I'm nearly out of my frozen stuff, though I have some bolognese sauce left so I can have spaghetti tonight.Purple Penguin Power!

Kerrrbooom .... weeeeeeee......crash !!!! That's my budget blown out of the water!!!!! I was a little overbudget (I included cat food, but the cat is turning her nose up at everything!) , but I offered to do lunch for my parents today (as its my mums bday in the week) , so popped to Mr S. I got a large joint (so 1/2 in freezer for another day), some flour (they have the doves wholemeal at 60p for 1.5kg), some wine also 'fell' into my trolley - well it's my bday next week too! , also cat food was on offer!
I realise my budget for this month was unrealistic, although as I've been trying to avoid the shops this month I have still spent loads less than I normally do.I love all the recipes and need to print off all the bread making ones as I'm getting addicted to making my own:p
Anyway, must go and organise my veggies, hopefully just need fruit for next week .... only 11 days to pay day :eek:0
