Mmm - doing not too bad this month but could do better.

I did a quick shop at Tesco yesterday and got apple pie, icecream, creme fraiche & burger rolls. Stuck to my lists ! Spent £5.12.

Last night used up the blue stilton cheese that we'd had since Christmas into a blue cheese sauce and had that on burgers that had been in the freezer since Summer.

Downside - went to Ikeas yesterday and spend £30 on shelves and handles but that wasn't part of my grocery challenge :j
So little money - so much time
  • HMMMMM???I think I am going to have to put the dogs back on the more expensive dry mix complete food. The ingredients on this WAGG food is almost identical to the stuff I bought before but they dont half stink now.It must be the food.
It would definately be worth the £6 extra cost a week to have them back to their non smelly versions again.Sometimes their are more important factors than money at play.

I am still bang on target for this month.. which is pretty amazing with the children off school.. halfway through I had spent slightly less than half my 'allowance'

I have to do a tesco delivery this week though as we have run out of cereal and tea bags and other vital stuff... if I keep it below £150 I'll be fine... and if I split that into 3 orders I'll have 3 lots of coupons so save more..

    Off to shop!!

Yesterday and today will be NSD for me.

I have all I need for all this weeks dinners as well as per my menu plan, and I have now started saying to the boys if it isn't here I'm not buying it until next grocery shop.

DH and DS1 have gone off the DS1's footie match and DS2 and myself will be going to his footie match later. The BM has just bleeped so I'll get the dough out and make some rolls etc for packup this week.

We are having beef tonight with veggies from my organic box.

Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.

  • I think I am going to go over budget this month but I wont beat myself up about it as this is the first month I have done this and its been a big learning curve. I dont think I will be much over but I will be over. I still have 2 weeks of shopping left to do so am being careful.

I have picked up loads from everyone else so thank you.

I hope March is going to be a better month lol.

I have several cans of tinned meat (stewed steak) and i'm not mad about it on its own...anyone any ideas of what i can do with it to slightly disguise the flavour?
I'm not sure if turning it into a stew with swede etc would work:confused:

    Hi betterlatethannever,
i have a really good curry recipe made with tinned stewing steak, it tastes fabulous but it`s on the other pc which isn`t working at the moment.
As soon as i can get it off there i`ll post it for you.

 What did they smell of? was it a smelly dog kind of smell or did you mean a wind type smell? I was looking at adding wagg into the mix i feed mine but might not bother now.

Well its a mixture of problems really which coincided with the change of food, the very bad wind type smell, definate increase in flatulence, their behaviour seems to have become quite silly infact I would say mental(one of them has even started chasing his tail)and their coats are losing their shine and feeling greasy despite the same grooming routine. They are also developing scavenging habits as though they are still hungry after being fed(the wag food is heavier so just 4 cups gives tham 600g whereas with the previous food it was 6 cups).
I am changing back to the tesco premium dry complete food, its still very affordable in the large bags and definately suited them better.
Try the cheaper food if you like but maybe just a small bag to start off with to see how it affects your pet.

Just wanted to add that hubby says the Wagg food had Yucca in it which is supposed to make the dogs smell nicer but I definately think Wagg is having the opposite effect on our boys.

  • I can't believe it's 2 months since I had a delivery from Mr. T :j(used to be every 3 weeks)! I thought I was saving money by having it delivered and cutting down on bus fares and temptation of being in the shop, but I'm spending so much less this way. Will have to do a big shop soon, as cupboards getting a little bare, but putting it off as long as I can.

Home baking may not save me any money though, as the bread is so tasty (only simple white loaf so far) it disappears really quickly so we are eating much more bread than we used to!
    :rotfl:

Will update my sig later, got to gather all the receipts.
