I'm going to have to divide my month up. I was going from the 9th to the 8th because of when my bank statements are dated (I started doing my spreadsheets to coincide with them) but find it a bit of a pain as OH actually gets paid on the 25th, so this month I'm only doing two weeks, then starting March GC on 25th Feb. It makes my spreadsheets difficult to balance so I'm going to ask the bank to send me the statements on the 25th of each month.

Anyway this makes my February GC two weeks, or £150, so I need to update my sig, which I'll do a bit later.

    Just spend £15.66 in Lidl's.

But I have to work out, what goes into this month GC. I've bought 4 Gammon joints. :D

But my lovely Lidl staff told me, that the Gammon joints are on offer for 6 weeks.

Just a shame, that the cheap F&V have stopped. :(

Anyhow, better go and update my signature.

  • The lovefoodhatewaste website is great. Thanks to all who posted this.

I've got just under £30 left and 1 more shop to go. I should be fine, as we're quite well stocked. Could still be quite close though - wish me luck

Haven't been around since the 14th as my browser has not been able to find the forums. It will get the main MSE site but then refuses to load the forums from either the main site or from my Feb Challenge email updates. Then suddenly today it is OK. Maybe there is a ghost in the machine. Havvn't time at the moment to read the last 12 pages but will update tomorrow. You all seem to be doing remarkably well, so carry on the good work and heaps of luck.

    Love the FM

You can bulk up the dog food with pasta or rice.Dogs are omnivores like us not carnivores so they can eat the same as us,infact quite a few people on here make their own dog food or dog biscuits so that they know exactly whats in the meal.
Our dogs quite often have the same for dinner as we do.Last week they has some lovely venison casserole with vegetables(that was a treat).
We take more care of the animals than we do of ourselves. Some of the rubbish we chuck down our throats we wouldnt dream of feeding the dogs.
Last night hubby just wanted a takeaway and went and bought himself some KFC.He had some left and DD asked if she should give it to the dogs."No",he said,"dont feed the dogs any of that rubbish, they'll end up with heart disease"

    Love you OH's reasoning, Shelovestobuystuff...how like a man!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Haven't spent anything to-day and am planning to use the turkey which I have had in the freezer since before Christmas for next weekend, as we will have at least 9 for dinner both days, will buy bacon (€6) which will stretch it even further so probably don't need much to provide protein for rest of February's main meals, which is the costliest part of the exercise for me.

Found a ciabatta and brown soda in freezer this morning, so another day on which I don't need to make bread, and I know that there are rolls in the other freezer for to-morrow, so flour and mixes will last to end of month...so looking good at this stage

Shelovestobuystuff, your post made me LOL! How true is that!

Getting a bit twitchy about my total as we're off to Lidl tomorrow for the first time. Notice I say 'we', which means all hell could break loose! Still, OH used to be a Waitrose man so I guess this is a big improvement :D I expect to go over as we'll stock up (I plan to go to Lidl once a month as it's not so near) but it'll all even out in the end.. Honest ;)
I'm off to do the menu plan for the rest of the month and make the roasted veg soup. Good luck to everyone!

  • Hi there to everyone, I've not been on here for a while, but have been keeping check on the budget. Have now got only £20 left to last me until the end of Feb  though I should be ok as I have planned all the meals until payday from what we have already got in, and only really need to buy fruit and milk to last us. Well done to everybody, you all seem to be doing so well.
