Anyone with Argos Pet Insurance due for reneval in June?

Just got the reneval info for 5 out of my 6 cats (Zara and baby cat due for reneval later in the year).

The 2 girls - small increase. All boys double

Goeorge had an op so it was expected but Teddy and Fred?

George is now 24 per month, Teddy 22, Fred 19 :eek::eek:

Also, they moved to another company and I do nt liek the wording - "your current policy will expire and new will start... blah bl;ah blah"

What about pre - existing conditions?? BOth Zara and George...

Too late to call them now so freaking out TBS

Anyone else with them and got similar reneval info?

Mine renewed in April for the 2 cats, to be honest, I haven't even checked what the forms say! I just know that the Archies price has risen by 1/3 and the female cat has risen by about 10%. No claims made ever.

Surely pre existing would still be covered as it's not you changing insurer, it's them swapping to different underwriters?

Must admit it bugs me that male cats get a massive increase, when I initially signed up to Argos pet insurance, the woman told me that male cats are more likely to get injured, because they roam etc. But surely that wouldn't apply to an indoor neutered male! My cats live on the 8th floor, if they go outside, it's via a window and I'm pretty certain, I'd be making no claims on that outcome

My boys went up by like 80%:eek::eek:

Their payements go from my daughter's account but it was around 11 per month so far.... Teddy, Fred - never claimed anything for them at all so do not understand that increase.

George - mfair enough, he had operations on both legs. BUt why Fred and Teddy?

Opened the letters too late, they were closed already so can not call them.

May move Fred and Teddy somewhere else as those premiums are completely crazy..... Will look for some quotes tomorrow.... sigh.. Surely can insure 2 boy cats for less than nearly £50 per month

I hope so but I do not like the wording - "your old policy will finish and new one start blah blah blah" Those are NOT new policies as far as I am concerned.....That should say renewed or somethning like that?

Will call them in the morning, but gonna stress all night now....

Yeah I can imagine why you would, that's a lot of money per month to be paying out. What's the total sitting @ now including the dog? I think mine is still less than £20 PM (for the 2) I haven't actually got the male kitten insured yet ....(oooer) because I'm entitled to PDSA help so I figure if he's as dumb as my other male cat, he can go there (before anyone jumps down my throat, he was just neutered, and I paid full price at my regular vets for it - £50)

now the 3 boys together are about 70 so....around 130 per month... from around 82 per month....

2 girls are my daughter's and she pays their insurance

Gettingready, your dog's expensive, I got both of mine for £60 at Tesco's and used Quidco so got cashback too.
But I change my insurers every year to get the best deals, especially after Petinsurance wanted 50 each when they got to the age of 10.

I know my dog's insurance is expensive but as I said above, both Zara (dog) and George (one of the cats) have pre-existing conditons so can not change insurers...
  • GR that's extortionate for the boys!

I moved mine at renewal this year as big cat was going to be 6 before renewal and previous insurer thought that was old (for a cat!) & stuck on a 20% of total cost plus excess.

They're now both with PetPlan (decided if I was going to move, I might as well do it properly!) and a big plus is that PPs policies never seem to jump huge amounts each year & previous claiming experience with them has been good.

I pay £18.75 / month for the 2 of them - can't remember the exact split but I think it was approx £11 for him and £10 for her (but I then get the multi-pet discount off that). He's 6 and she's 4 so that's pretty good IMHO.

I am definitely going to move Teddy and Fred and yes, possibly PetPlan. Will call them for a quote when I get home from work.

    Can not move George... :(
