I used to as well but don't bother now. Can't tell the difference anyway.

They used to tell you to do that with courgettes (when they were a new fangleg veg) but whoever does that now???

Must have had more wine that I realise. Still got it wrong. Should be 'new fangled'. Oh - and 'glass'. Maybe I'd better go to bed ???

I always seperate the eggs(i know it sounds like afaf, but it's worth it) and whisk the whites to stiff peak add them last, really makes the cake light and fluffy, mmm.

    help!

tried the carrot cake recipe today and the middle sunk to about half the height, it looked like someone gave my cake a good punch in the middle :-[ the middle was quite sticky/soggy... so did it sink in the middle because I didn't bake it for long/hot enough or is there some other obvious reason which I should really know about ??

I used to have the same problem. These days, I leave the cake in the oven for about 40 mins to 1 hour, on Gas mark 4. It seems to do the trick. I am no expert though.

Does anyone here use the BBC website for recipes. Hundreds of recipes for free!! I hardly ever buy any recipe books these days. Here is a link:

    I hope it's useful.
