Yes I'm sure after your wife was made to go back twice unsuccessfully she was really grateful that you finally persevered and got the 40p. Well done you.

Just had a barney with my local Tesco CS over 40p

We had a 'Save 40p on pre-packed apricots" voucher".

So we bought a pack of dried apricots to include with our shopping. The voucher didn't kick in and the girl at the till told us it didn't seem to want to work.

I concluded, that since the voucher didn't mention anything about the apricots needing to be ''fresh", that we had obviously been overcharged by 40p.

So back to the car with the shopping and then wifey went back in to get the 80p DTD refund.

She came back with only 40p and gave me some tale about "The CS assistant said it doesn't apply to vouchers."

I told wifey that if some thing should be £7.60 and you get charged £8.00 for it, then obviously you have been overcharged by 40p. So go back and use that as an example and tell the CS assistant that this is just pure common sense!

Back she went and back she came to me in the car, saying, "She won't have it!"

I grabbed the till receipt off her and went marching off to see the CS myself!

"Now look 'ere! Grrrrrrr!!!! etc., etc., etc.!!! So 'm not leaving and you can ring Head Office. I despise being cheated! Blah, blah! Blah! Blah!"

TWO Managers later, I came out of the store with an additional 40p.

Manager No. 1 told me to stop raising my voice and actually asked me to leave. I said, I was sorry and agreed to calm down but I told her no wonder I was raising my voice because it was 'Common Sense gone out the window and so utterly, utterly frustrating that they couldn't see my point of view."

Anyhow, Manager No. 2 was very calm with me, saw I was definitely not going to back off about it and agreed to give me the extra 40p.

Hmmm? I don't think it should have to come to this, should it?

    40 blooming pence! Goodness gracious!

That is not a pricing error. That is a non-scanning coupon.

In future, if you suspect you have been overcharged, rather than going in and upsetting people why not just ring head office when you get back, or email them.

I for one know the difference between a pricing error and a non-scanning coupon, and have experienced both. You have to know when to make a battle of something and when to just leave it.

I wish it were true about being calm and respectful to get what you're entitled to - CS are always rude at any mention of dtd at my Tesco. Last time I had one I was calmly debating my point for 10mins (with anyone they could be bothered to drag out), about a legitimate 3 for 2 that didn't go through, then a lady with same issue came up next to me and starting shouting the odds. We both got our dtd within 30sec of that.

Yes a pricing error is a mistake, we all make them.
A non-scanning coupon is a downright lie and they should be made to pay for it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Looks like that was store specific :(
Checked out 2 stores this afternoon and both had £3 SEL.

    Well done on the find.

    Well done on the find.

It was a national pricing error but only lasted a couple of days, then was corrected, looks like this store didn't replace the labels when the error was corrected.
  • Went in to t*sco today and noticed that they had an offer on LOOK magazine for £1 exclusive to them for this week only massive signs up above where the papers are. Its the new one with duchess of Cambridge on the front cover but scanned through at £1.80 so off I when to customer services and they gave DTD and a lovely free magazine. Hope some people will enjoy this offer as it is great magazine.

Look out for incorrect signs in T*SC* on Clipstrip product E-Cloth for Phone & Sat Nav Cloth BC ends 4546.
Yellow sticker says £2 rtc £1. I bought 6 and got charged the £2 each. Had to go to CS to get DTD for the 6 I bought. She removed sign from shelf. Offer had apparently ended but that part wasn't visible to customer. Plus if it was RTC how come it went back up to full price.
Maybe they don't understand that RTC actually is supposed to mean REDUCED TO CLEAR.....pretty sure it didn't say RTC but if its doesn't clear we put the fullprice back up!
    The end is nigh

Not quite free if they gave DTD. You were overcharged by 80p, therefore DTD should have been 2x80= £1.60. You were originally charged £1.80 therefore overall cost to you is 20p.
