Funny you should say that, because the reduced shelf in my store (where you find dented tins, etc.) had a bottle of gin that was three quarters full, reduced to three quarters of its original price. The metal seal between the cap and neck had clearly been broken, and someone had put Sellotape around it. It's astonishing that the staff considered it acceptable to resell it after it was obviously tampered with, and could have been contaminated with anything.

    Surely this is illegal :(

DTD is instore only, if you are charged more than the shelf label or price sticker you are entitled to double the difference back.

Price promise is instore or online where you input your receipt details into the Tesco website and if your shopping would have been cheaper elsewhere you get a voucher for the difference.

    Odd one last night.

Needing coffee, spotted hot choc. sachets 'on offer', Note the parentheses: I was amused by '16p each-4 for £1'[definitely one for The Guardian] as was '37p each, 2 for £1'. and '16p for 4'...what?what?what[lovers of The Goon Show are attuned]

Took 8 of each, ready to stand up for '4 for 16p'.

Sure enough, they went through@37p each. Late night CS did not even go and look, but was flummoxed by sums, even with calculator. She kept shushing me when I did it in my[ancient]head and explained how.

A very nice refund indeed, esp. against shopping Of £7.78:-)

Just to spell it out - had 66p back per sachet. 4 for 16p=4p each,
    overcharge 33p, dtd = 24 x[33x2] =£15.84p.
    Here endeth this lesson.

Checking receipt, it's hard to tell which is which, but I have these:
    Galaxy Instant - Add Water.
    Options Belgian Choc - vanilla
    Options Belgian Choc - coconut

    Happy days.

DTD instore is fab, look for out of date shelf labels - where the offer has finished and if possible check on instore price scanner to see if price has gone back up. If you get charged double the shelf price then with double the difference the item is free. :D Those are my favourite.

Not just food either, dtd is good for all items instore including electricals.

I was wondering if any of you have come across this before when looking for out of date yellow shelf edge labels and can tell me what might have happened had I bothered to buy.

In Tesco last week I found a yellow OOD SEL for a pair of phones. Took the box to an instore scanner and it scanned at full price. Chuffed, I put it in my trolley and kept looking for more. Whilst looking at the dates on the other yellow SELs my eye caught sight of the same phone model number on a white full price SEL as the one I had just put in my trolley.
When I double checked the model numbers, sure enough there was both a white and a yellow OOD SEL for the same phone.

We didn't buy in the end as we were sure the CS would argue that as there were 2 prices on display we hadn't technically been over-charged.
I know that worst case I wouldn't have lost anything had I bought the phones because if they hadn't honoured the OOD SEL I would have just got a refund of the full price.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has been in the same position and can tell me what might have happened?
Is there a Tesco policy for this happening?

    Thanks :)

I would have just said I only saw the cheaper sel, has happened a number of times, never been challenged/asked as to why I didn't look at the cheaper label. I especially look hard at the phones and kitchen electricals as they often have multiple labels and one might be missed.

Most cs are fine and you won't have to mention dtd they will just offer it, only way to know if your store will is to try it.:D
