Quite a few years ago I found myself working for a growing software company. Between work assignments they would have you doing all sorts of bits n pieces.
Anyway, the office manager asks me to write a job advert to attract new software staff.
I was in a bit of a cynical mood, so I wrote what I considered a spoofish ad with things like "£££big" and "dynamic energetic company striving to leverage the best out of its human investment" (and other such guff).
To my amazement he was really impressed with it, and used it almost verbatim and without alteration.
Perhaps job ads are supposed to be mumbo jumbo? :rotfl:0 -
He is your son Lydia, I would feel the same. When our kids achieve something, it is natural for our hearts to burst with pride. I felt the same way today with my little one, she has started saying words together in a sentence. Today it was " more cake please " me and her are going to get along just fine.
How delightful. Yes, those early "firsts" are so special - I remember feeling like that about things like that. And a child who (a) likes cake and (b) says "please" sounds like I'd get along just fine with her too!lostinrates wrote: »Well, having said no dog upstairs these days dog dog has just tiptoed in and moved like a slow loris imperceptably on the bed and is now cuddled up to the cats. Sigh. She will go down later, but she is obviously thrilled to have made it up here.
Avatar-dog was a downstairs dog when we first got him, but gradually became less and less so over the years. The night before we had to have him put down I invited him up on the bed to sleep there - he'd been up for a quick cuddle a few times, but never been allowed to stay on the bed while I actually went to sleep. I still miss him.YoungBusinessman wrote: »Otherwise very unsure alot of the time. Think it must be a female dominant thread though if its nice people
Oi! We have some extremely nice men around here too, thanks.
(I'm female, as you'll have realised by now from zag's list. Lydia isn't my real name, but I wanted a female screen name so people wouldn't need to wonder.)If it helps, my name is Simon and I love high heels
Priceless! Thanks missk. In no particular order, me, you, michaels, generali, Johnnybravo, sss555s, HamishMcTavish, GDB, Masomnia, Percy1983, CK, Wheezy, lemonjelly, chewie, davesnave, JohnPierpoint, StevieJ are male and the others are female.PasturesNew wrote: ».... £1 says you left a bloke off ..... no idea who; I'd have not been able to create a list that big of 'blokes on the NP thread'. The question is whether to include the people that hardly ever post any more. Pobby occasionally pops in, and Inspector Monkfish used to too, although we haven't seen either of them for ages. They're both male too. Also, I realise I have no idea which gender kabayiri is.Congratulations Lydia! I skimmed past it.Lydia, congratulations about DS.:T
Thanks missk & zagDo you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Edit: To my knowledge that is! I've not, to this date, met any NPs in person.

I've always assumed that mystic_trev and purch are male too, but I may be wrong.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? More negativity .... telling me I am the negative one. That eternal projection of themselves onto me. MUST be a syndrome!! I blame "people who read too many !!!!!!!' Self Help books"
Pastures she sounds like a Narcissist if I am honest, seriously, move on. Have you thought about having a gander on easyroomate.co.uk, least then your flatmates would be on an equal footing, and are " easy " to live with.8k in 2015 Challenge ( #167)0 -

I often find myself agreeing with what seem more considered outlooks from the ladies on this board.
As an aside, gender and thinking can get confused. I nearly got in trouble recently, when I made a comment that a Male to Female transexual I know 'thought like a typical male'. This didn't go down too well as you can imagine, but it was my genuine view on their thinking patterns. This particular person has changed their sex, and now I find out that their ex-partner is changing to become a male! I wouldn't be surprised if they get back together. It's a funny old world, as they say.0 -

I've always assumed that mystic_trev and purch are male too, but I may be wrong.
Right enough- aplologies to those I missed. I should rmember this better as, IIRC, Purch (like myself) was introduced to jellied eels by marrying a London girl. Not the same girl I'm assuming.
Lir, sorry to hear of your travails in the hospital system.
Nothing like the seriousness of your case, but the inefficencey works at all levels and affects the employees too. I had a summer job as a auxiliary care assistant in a local hospital, and instead of a paypacket after my first week I was sent away empty handed.
And the next week.
And the third week,
On the fourth week I was granted a day off to go to the local Health Service Head Office where I had to struggle to convince them I was an employee and entitled to pay. Mind you I saved a lot that summer, having no reaqdies to spend!
Endless incompetence on the admin side. :mad:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Those were the days back on GIOL..tear to my eyeOh, I'm typically male. I say 'typically' because DH accuses me constantly of trying to solve things when she wants me to empathise and listen!
Being nice we have no problem with a NP male having a DH, but then refering to him as a she?
DS started preshcool today. DW is at a loss as that is our last baby starting school (my 'get a job then, that will keep you occupied' didn't seem to be the correct response). I am at a loss as it means we are changing our morning routine and I will have to get up an hour earlier and a morning person I am not. Plus, starting work at 10 and leaving at just gone 6 works fine for a consultant but I fear starting at 9 and trying to leave at just gone 5 will be noticedI think....0
