Viva really sorry to hear this - part of me says they should get the police to use CCTV to get the scroat convicted but part of me says it is just unneeded hassle over an event that can not be undone.

Thanks guys. If only zag... Apparently they were spending ages last night because of having to pump stomachs etc and it was manic. But that's on a Thursday. It must be dreadful at a weekend. In terms of michaels point re CCTV, I did suggest this to parents, but they'd then get dragged to court and all they want to do is get better and forget about it. Oh well, onwards and upwards. At least dad has agreed to not to work up ladders for a while.

Actully, its appaling the state of a and e often. Its an amazing service, the most amazing really, but the last place the fragile and vulnerable want to be. I just think viva's dad must have felt awful for his wife, yet powerless. It makes me cross, cross, cross.

That was the big issue with that 'everyone must be seen within 4 hours' target, the staff couldn't leave drunks to sober up and see the decent ordinary people first because they needed to sort out the drunk people to tick the box :( Off course they take much longer as they won't sit still etc.

It's a special place and interesting but rather claustrophobic. Used to take students to visit there. I'm more of a fan of science /natural history museums. GDB's DS should visit the National Museum of Scotland - tiny but stunning- a kind of a compact "Museum of Everything".

Also like Folk museums like the People's Palace in Glasgow
The Museum of London is the closest equivalent down south and I love it. Of course they're always small and quick to tour.

My only problem with meeting up in London is I've lived here longer than anywhere else and, much as I love it, I don't see it through a tourists eyes.

I've never done the boat or bus tours. Have any other NPs?

Brighton must have the highest NP density, after Greater Hertfordshire.

I once did a map in a previous NP thread, but PN got in a huff because she fell off the map, so it was never developed any further. ;)

Oooh yes please. Now PN fits on the page, please carry on with the map. lir needs moving down a bit.

I would like NP to help me. I would like to persaude DW that DS will still look delicious even with a hair cut (cos long long hair or boys is chavtastic imho) so what would be great would be a nice photo of a mixed race young boy with a medium length hair style (too short is obviously chavtastic too). Thanks

Will see if I can find any pics of my nephews around that age. It was a long time ago, though, (as in before we had a digital camera) so I may not have any.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

What lir said. So sorry your family have been having such a tough time.

I am never going to A&E in the evening ever again if I can possibly help it. If the problem could conceivably wait until the morning, I'll go before work/school. Our local A&E is a dream then - you're in and seen by everyone you need to see and back out again in the time it would take you to get to the head of the triage queue in the evenings.

Also want to say that my kids' experience of being taken into the "majors" side of A&E by ambulance was one of excellent service. That wasn't round here, though, and I've no idea what that hospital is like for other things.

Phew. I've caught up with the thread. It doesn't do to get too far behind these days.

DS is still getting on OK at school, I think. He and the rest of Yr7 have had a maths test to decide which set everyone should be in. Am trying to pretend I am not impatient to find out the outcome.

Not done the boat tour but I did visit the tate modern on my last visit. My OH is very arty but I soon decided that the tate modern was a load of "guff".

I looked at the picture with a yellow, red and green lines and thought !!!!!!!

From then on DD and I took the pith out of all the cwap, including the hideous crack in the cement floor.

You can see that on any UK road these days

Doubt if I will re-visit that building again.

Ohh wow! I'm still on the map!!! and with a big arrow :D

It's not that complicated north of Manchester to deal with the whole of the UK.

Maybe zag would have managed the map better as he knows the whole of the UK better than most :)

    @lydia

How are your solar panels doing in this worst summer in a long time?

I bet they are still doing ok.

I have a load of friends with solar installation company's that I work along side but they seem quiet on that side of things.

I may well go ahead with it myself but I'd really need to build my extension to get the best angle.
