ETA: thanks for the heads up chewy, even if I did miss the beginning where they said Hertfordshire smells and that only non-NPs live here. Tring and St Albans are both areas I know pretty well, so it's very interesting. Though why they'd send someone to Slip End who wants St Albans is beyond me. Not only is it in a different county, but there's a whole other town between it and St Albans. Mad. Dagnall as a Tring alternative makes more sense though.
Well they didn't have much money, maye slip end was all Kirsty and Phil could find (by that I mean all their researchers could find in 10 mins on rightmove).
Is slip end a particularly smelly part of not-hertfordshire?0 -
I am so sore.
. Feeling sore and grumpy is worse when nothing i want to watch on tv.
I read a lovely book that nikkster gave me last night, by Alice Walker and about chickens and chicken keping.. ( i was saving it for hospital. But its been yelling at me like left over cake) But have nothing unread so nice and no concentration tonight.

but i do agree that what appears to have been said is, sadly, true and is just dose of reality really. whether or not the dose or reality was appropriate to the particular situation, who knows.
It is interesting that 2 people have suggested this is true whereas I think with large employers anyway it is almost as if there is positive discrimnation in place as they are keen to improve the ethnic balance of their employees for PR reasons and to reflect the mix of their customers. Similarly in uni and college admissions there will be a presumption that white british will have had more advantages and that allowances should therefore be made for other races.
Excellent news re MsK and I'm glad no one felt the need to quote her. Immigration is another area where I wish politicans would try to lead rather than pandering to the base instincts of the electorate.I think....0 -

Can you take painkillers or do you rattle too much already with all the other pills?
Nikki allso lent me some books which I really enjoyed, she is defnintly a nice person.
I did hear tell of the property show but no time to watch it tonight, one of our cars is due a service and the other one we never use has a flat battery and our rubbish, corroded jump lead refuse to start it, i don't think they are making a good enough connection.I think....0 -

That may be true, it isn't where I work which is a large organisatikn, but then we dont have customers in the sense that you are talking about. Plus I think it's right that the majority of people are employed by SMEs rather than large firms, and SMEs possibly don't tend to be quite as errrr "modern" shall we say. My old firm was an SME and it was extraordinary white. Plus isnt there only 1 black CEO of a FTSE 100 company. By the same token, there are clearly fewer women on the boards of large companies and a clear gap between male and female pay (for equivalent roles and experience IIRC).
That said I'm not well placed to comment as I'm a white upper middle class male born in the uk, so I really have no idea what it is like in practice.0 -

It's just a strange choice. It's a small village that you drive through when you're cutting round the outskirts of Luton when the M1's busy. Essentially it's about a field away from being in Luton. As it's north of Harpenden, you'd get stuck in Harpenden traffic going to St Albans, or if you go the other way, in Hemel traffic. They could have found somewhere on the outskirts of Hatfield or Hemel that would have fit the brief better and that would have been closer to St Albans. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I can't remember whether I've asked you this lir, so apologies if I have (sieve memory)... Are you or have you ever been a member of a reading group? A lot of the reading groups I'm familiar with read stuff I think you'd like and that would fit your tastes so I was curious as to whether it was something you'd considered. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Its funny about pills rattling, my pills actually rattle, the beads in the capsules rattle and i hear them rattling in the capsule while i swallow them. When i feel well enough i plan to jump up and down and see how far down i can hear them rattling. Doubt its very far, but quite funny.
Yeah...i can take codeine. And asprin. Paracetamol i have to avoid. They keep saying they will sort me out with some other stuff specific for nueological pain like the nueralgia, but they never do. I don't like to take too much codeine, and asprin....well, its like offering something homeopathic, it just doesn't touch the pain. Codeine is actually working quite well in the head (actually tonight its the old original nerve problem not this new one, so my back, my hips, my legs and feet, my calves feel like they have been carved out of stone, as the muscle is totally over fired and on, on, and in tital cramp now. I just don't like taking codeine a lot and its been a few months niw, so try to take ot no more than twice a week and had some day before yesterday. In the evening if it hurts though its grim its 'less important' as i don't have to see anyone or do anything once dogs etc done.
If we had a bath i would have one, that helps a bit, even if only coz it relaxes me.0 -
I have been to slip end. And harpendon.0
