I've read a few Maeves in the past. Usual thing: sad/broken person turns up in windswept Cornwall... finds true love by the last page.
How well does that score on PNs realistic scale?
    I think....

Sorry non-fiction. Standard modern fiction is a good way of putting it and is the fare of reading groups.

There are groups that go through things like the Orange and Booker nominees, but you can't easily do that at a library as the demand is for the same books at the same time, so we don't tend to meet as many of those.

Yeah, our library doesn't seem to get any of that stuff in.full stop.:D

I don't know what reading geoups they do, not sure where people would sit for them. There is a nurse every week in the reception area, in case you want to talk about your boils or fungus in the middle of the library. There are desks, but not very big ones, and usually occupied with...well, mainly the type of person who piddles into a bag. Those of us who merely envy the skill have to potter about balancing books in awkwards places!

Ahhh.. Reading groups for the most part don't meet in the library, they just pick their books up there. Then they discuss them somewhere far nicer and with lovely lubricants on tap to help the discussion flow. Though of course if you were going to read the Booker long list, you probably wouldn't be getting your books from the library either.

Thats true. Thing is, not unusual for me to read seven books a week, so library orovides me 'stuff to read' all picked randomly, often from their suggestions or the recently returned trolleys.

Books o actually choose to read specifically i still buy. Mainly because its too frustrating looking for them in the library.

Seven a week? Crikey that's in the jelly league. I'm lucky if I get through one every seven weeks at the moment. Most people who want a specific book do the same as you lir, or order it into the library.

I'm absolutely shattered. My dad - who is generally as fit as a fiddle - was taken into hospital by ambulance last night and I didn't find out until 2.30am that he was ok. So pretty low on the sleep quota today. He was out with his friends when he collapsed (not alcohol induced I hasten to add) and was taken in by ambulance. Thank goodness for my fab s-i-l who picked mum up and took her to the hospital, then brought her and dad back again and helped arrange collection of his car.

Viva - Eeekk! I'm not sure who worries who more in our lives....children when they stay out late or parents when they end up in hospital.

Mind you, I have children who do the same as parents!

    Hope he is ok now.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I cannot see how much this is, but i love it. As much as the other lights, an i am hoping we can afford it for over the kitchen table.

Sorry lir, something else I forgot to mention. Mum has started the dog on turmeric. Will let you know how they get on.

Ohh! Bright yellow dog turds. Should be easier to avoid in the park. How thoughtful of your mum!
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

So sorry to hear that you've had this fright, but delighted to hear that he's ok again. Have the medics found out the cause of the collapse?
