What do schools have to do with trains?

I did hear years ago that some of the long-distance commuter trains used to have lessons for regular passengers (language classes, I believe it was) travelling from the West country to London.

And I'm currently listening to Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance on my car stereo on my commute to work and it got me interested in chautauquas, which I gather travelled by train. I read this book before in the 70s when we all wore flares and took prog rock far too seriously, but it's come alive for me hearing it read out loud.:D

Hmm. Maybe only John and Davesnave might know what I'm babbling on about!

    What's the "asda glitch"?
“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

    -- President John F. Kennedy”

I just got 3 chicken crowns from waitrose reduced to £1.69 each from £4.99 each. Too bad there wasn't a multibuy offer.

Too many people searching for reductions nowadays. It's hard work.

That prompted me to get up off my 4rse and go to Waitrose where I got two £3.65 pies and a £3.99 Pizza and assorted pain aux chocolat and sultana scones for £6.20 on reductions plus multibuy.

I can't quite see how I'm saving money but I'm deffo eating better since that place opened!

It's a rapidly closing loophole and by the time anybody explains it, it would be like opening your parachute when you're only 2 feet above the ground.

Knowing michaels' luck, it's "buy 3 expensive champagnes, leave store, return 2 individually and get your money back.... one bottle of very expensive champagne free ..."

I can't see it either .... pies cost £1 for a proper Pukka pie, in date..... unless your pie serves 12 .....

£3.99 for a pizza wouldn't get a look in with me either, I'd be at the 10" Asda £2.50 ones.

That's the thing.... most reductions are reduced posh stuff... and still 2-3x as much as I'd pay full price for my peasant foods.

Overcast, blowy, cool and threatening rain here now... which is why I came home.

Had a "bargain buy" today. Randomly discovered a http://www.thediablo.com/instructions.html at a car boot for £2.
