I have never been to Ikea....there, that is my confession for the night, I am so backwater, I haven't stepped into a place pretty much everyone else has. Same with Waitrose, still not been in one of them.....

Today was shoe shopping for youngest, not my most favourite activity as shoe buying and youngest do not go well together as he is very particular about his feet, in particular, removing shoes. I thought it was going to go badly when, after he had had his feet measured, he put his normal shoes back on and the assistant was trying to convince him to keep them off, his legs started twitching, his fingers started whirling and the noises commenced....then James pulled the assistant to one side and explained he was autistic with a particular hang up about changing shoes and having his feet touched.

She was absolutely brilliant, she got a selection of shoes, let youngest choose from them with no pressure, allowed him to put them on his own feet and asked his permission before she checked to make sure they were fitting correctly. So instead of being all molly coddling and over powering in a hands on way, she stood back and almost did it remotely...perfect for youngest.

So what is normally a 4 hour, extremely stressful time complete with melt downs (from me as well!), shoe throwing and annoyed shop assistants turned out to be a 10 minute joy of a time with no real stress.

Well apart from when I had to pay for them

*James didn't literally pull the assistant to one side, it was done a lot less forcibly than that!

Yet another piece of evidence of what an amazing bloke your James is. :T
    Amazing sue!

Can ypu call the headquaters of the shoe shop co and tell them? It might well see her recognised.

Most people want to be both helpful and good at their jobs, james enabled her to be so.

    Good plan. :)
Atm i am better able to empathise. My pills make my skin really irritable, today the
LAce of my bra drove me up the wall, i had to change. The other thing they do is give you the feleing you are tuching nettles, mainly in your hands and feet. Its an odd sensation, not as bad as itching, but that nettle feeling makes you think 'danger, move from nettles' and of course, yu cannot. Its a lot, a lot, a lot betterthan the head pain and going blind though:D.

Piriton is ace if its ok for you pn, best just before bed though. And of copurse....take chemists advice.

Nettle business sounds nasty. Glad you feel it's so much better than the alternative, though. I know just what a nuisance it is to be unable to wear underwear with lace. I can only wear any kind of underwear if it is completely plain in texture, and even then there are shapes of straps that I can manage, and other shapes that have me scratching all day.

Actually, the skin itching got worse when I was put on some medication a while ago, and they told me to keep it moisturised, which did indeed help a bit. I also find anthisan invaluable for itchy skin. It's marketed for insect bites etc, but I find it works brilliantly for generally sensitive skin.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

On the subject of socks. I'm having to wear sports socks at the moment as a few weeks back I damaged a ligament in my foot and have to wear cushioned socks and trainers for comfort.

Tesco has value cotton sport socks for women. You get loads of pairs and they are only a few quid. I'd wash them before wearing them though, as I find new clothes have treatments on the materials that can cause sensitive skin to flare up.

Message for lir re Advanced Night Repair: whatever you do don't chuck it out. Sometime when I've been on a medication or had a flare up of rosacea, I can't use it, but my skin does return to normal after a while and I can again. When it does play up like that, I find the Daywear moisturiser in the pale blue/green pot very comforting, I think it has cucumber in it and it is very kind to my skin. Also, if you are using the stronger stuff and that's where the problem has arisen, could you use the milder one for a bit?

Oh lydia, it was so itchy yesterday i felt cross but ended up laughing at myself. My nipples in particular felt like they were covered in bites or something.

The nettle thing is odd. Its not like extreme pain, nettles, so its totally tolerable, and at times its almost oddly relaxing, which sounds very odd indeed i know, but its funny. It sometimes feels similar but not painful around my knee caps too, and thats a bit like a gentle spa or massage or endo tapping or something. Alien, but not unpleasant.

I don't think i will be taking up actually walking through nettles, but as a dide effect i can thing of a lot worse. After monday and yeaterday its agreed i am doubling the dose as from yesterday, but the side effects do not get greater i am told. :). And i have not list abnormal amounts of hair, which would have upset me a LOT more!

Hang on, pn, are you walking around barefoot with a 'sore' touching the floors and furniture?
No... I've been tip toe just in case it was contagious.

Also, if your feet do not sweat, ever, have you ben screened for diabetes? Do you have dry skin on feet? Its axtually healthy and necessary to sweat. Not smelling or feeling wet does not necessarily mean not sweating, but if they are not sweating really you need to take medical advice over that.
Not been screened. I just don't wear shoes etc as often as other people.... I only wear them when it's necessary (going outside). Maybe if I wore shoes/tights for 12 hours they'd sweat :)

Ok, i will hang on to it. Its the normal one.....the super dooper one is great, but short term use only.

I love daywear but have not had it for years....i have some good moisturiser though. Today my skin looks really good :j:j

I would never have guessed from your skin you get rosacea problems.

When you have your problem under control and as a preventative measure in the future you can buy Daktarin active spray. Its a dry spray that you can use on your feet or inside your shoes.

I need to buy socks every autumn, for some reason all but the odd ones go missing over summer. I have to think about that very soon.

Re shoes and problems, dh has had plantar fascitis this summer, and his mbt trainers have been amazing for it. After a few days out of them though, he is sore again.

The only promlem is that his MBTs stink now. At one of the outlet places they can be bought half price, so i might have to go there soon, which is good, a friend has moved near there and i need to visit her.

I really need to do a wardrobe prune soon. I am going into winter with far too few warm things. Mother bought be a fleece ( which was kind) but its cerise......not a colour i would choose. Fine for the yard though. I need another couple. My favourite hoody is simply disreputable now. And we seem to have loads of t shirts with holes in now, so there has to be a huge cull of them too.
