Ok, i agree with that exactly.
She can go back to her rubber shoes when all is better.
How easy are cotton socks to find these days?0 -

FWIW I dont agree with the "change shoes each day" unless your feet are very sweaty but do change socks twice a day if you can (or more!), and when sat down take the socks and shoes off.
I only wear shoes if actually going out .... barefoot the rest of the time (been tip-toeing on that foot forever so as not to spread it about).0 -

You will be if you want this to go a.s.a.p.
You need the extra layer to enable your feet to breathe. The sweat will move through the sock into the shoe.
It's only for when your shoe is on. It's no good getting the shoe so contaminated with the fungus that it could start it all off again.
You wear the sock, it keeps your skin dry and then you wash the fungus out of it and replace with clean socks each day or twice a day if you're wearing your shoes a lot.
Either way, you need socks.
Any decent supermarket will sell cotton socks. Anything like Primark will sell them. They'll be cheap.0 -
You need dryness. Fungi don't tolerate heat but they have an absolute requirement for moisture so sweat helps them cope with high temperatures.
You want socks not just shoes on your feet becase you can wash them more toroughly and change them more frequesnlty so you don't build up enough fungi in shoes to cause reinfection. Otherwise let the air dry them.
Fungal infections take a long time to develop but they are also very slow to clear up. Be ready to apply the treatment for months if necessary.

While I have this, there's no way I can think about a job - and wearing high heels and tights in warm offices! Apart from the fact I'd be mysteriously disappearing frequently for a good scratch/search for ice!0

From the collective advice given above it reads as if your job for tomorrow is the purchase of cotton socks and shoes. It has got to be done.
There are people all over England scratching and thinking of your tootsies.
I have to say I like the leap in thought though.0 -
I have never been to Ikea....there, that is my confession for the night, I am so backwater, I haven't stepped into a place pretty much everyone else has. Same with Waitrose, still not been in one of them.....
Today was shoe shopping for youngest, not my most favourite activity as shoe buying and youngest do not go well together as he is very particular about his feet, in particular, removing shoes. I thought it was going to go badly when, after he had had his feet measured, he put his normal shoes back on and the assistant was trying to convince him to keep them off, his legs started twitching, his fingers started whirling and the noises commenced....then James pulled the assistant to one side and explained he was autistic with a particular hang up about changing shoes and having his feet touched.
She was absolutely brilliant, she got a selection of shoes, let youngest choose from them with no pressure, allowed him to put them on his own feet and asked his permission before she checked to make sure they were fitting correctly. So instead of being all molly coddling and over powering in a hands on way, she stood back and almost did it remotely...perfect for youngest.
So what is normally a 4 hour, extremely stressful time complete with melt downs (from me as well!), shoe throwing and annoyed shop assistants turned out to be a 10 minute joy of a time with no real stress.
Well apart from when I had to pay for them
*James didn't literally pull the assistant to one side, it was done a lot less forcibly than that!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Amazing sue!
Can ypu call the headquaters of the shoe shop co and tell them? It might well see her recognised.
Most people want to be both helpful and good at their jobs, james enabled her to be so.0 -
Hang on, pn, are you walking around barefoot with a 'sore' touching the floors and furniture? Seriously....GET THE SOCKS, and wear them. It spreads easily ( or does in animals) .....i would not want a ll finding out the bad way i had had it!
I would consider buying inexpensive washable slippers, two pairs, if you will not wear the socks.
Also, if your feet do not sweat, ever, have you ben screened for diabetes? Do you have dry skin on feet? Its axtually healthy and necessary to sweat. Not smelling or feeling wet does not necessarily mean not sweating, but if they are not sweating really you need to take medical advice over that.0 -
cotton socks.
put cream on, air dry, put socks on.
1) it cases foot in cream and doesn't rub it off on floor etc
2) keeps infection localised. Fungus is a hardy thing
If you PM me an address, I will POST some of the things to you if you don't want to spend any money.0
