anyone else tempted to put the heating on? (bar lir of course, who doesn't have central heat)
Heck yes. Proper on too, not just a little bit of boost every now and then.
Congratulations on the new arrival btw:T:T:TPlease stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Once I leave the office that is my and my families time - no wonder I earn so little
It's my choice to do the extra. The role I am doing requires it - but I could easily have stayed in a different role, worked strictly 9-5.30 and got by, probably earning about 50-60% of what I get now, and half the bonus. Doing the extra hours means more money, being given really interesting work (some of it is proper secret squirrel stuff with far ranging implications) and much better prospects of making it up to the next level.0 -
They did ask me - in fact they asked for all ages and I gave out all except DW (well trained) although I can never even remember mine so have to work from DoB and date.
Have you been in the paper yet? I'm a bit confused... I'm going to see parents tomorrow and they have the paper so I was planning a ferret through their recycling box:oPlease stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Not yet (afaik) - was told it would be last Wed or Thur but no sign. Then got this call today asking for DWs age. Would have asked when story was to run but researcher (not original reporter) seemed pretty miffed when I point blank refused to give DWs age and hung up.I think....0

Before family and kids I was happy to work the hours required but now it just doesn't seem worth it. Perhaps when there are the patter of mini-chewie footsteps you will change your priorities - hopefully you will only be working for fun by then anyway...chewmylegoff wrote: »It's my choice to do the extra. You, know, it wasn't so painful today.
Glad it wasn't too painful.
Haven't I shared the story of that ridiculous conversation before? Stop me if you've already heard this... oh, wait, you can't stop me... I mean, skip this if you've read it before.
Me: <explains that LNE is dead, they have the will, I'm executor and I want them to send it to me>
Her: But this will's not valid. There's a note on the file to say you're divorced.
Me: That's because I rang you up and said he was divorcing me and asking you to destroy my will because I'd made a new one. But the divorce wasn't complete. We only had a decree nisi, not a decree absolute.
Her: But if you had a decree nisi then that means you're divorced.
Me: No, the divorce isn't complete until the decree absolute, so at the time he died, we were not divorced.
Her: So are you divorced now?
Me: <sigh> I'll get my divorce solicitor to explain the position to you.
Then there was his car insurance company. They knew the car was written off - their accident investigators had taken possession of it and carted it off to be examined. They knew he was dead because they were addressing their letters to his executor. And they still wrote asking why the DD for his policy wasn't being paid. Err, perhaps that weould be because a dead man doesn't need insurance on a written-off car.Ouch - was that after she had made you confirm you had none...lady needs help me thinks.
We would be honoured to introduce DKs to you. I don't know why but I am not an animal person but DKs do like it when we visit them and it is good for them to spend time with dogs as DW is frightened of them and so I have to spend a lot of energy explaining to kids that actually they are not frightening and that high pitched screaming and running away are probably not the best thing to do.
Was just speaking to Daily Mail again. They wanted to know DWs age. I had to explain about 3 times that it was more than my life is worth to reveal this. They couldn't understand that a lady might not want her age printed in the paper, which got me to wondering. Do you think most people when confronted with a reporter can't help but answer all the questions asked?
My kids thoroughly recommend lir's place as an excellent day out for children. DS says to tell you the climbable haystack is particularly fun. Both big dog and dog dog are rather big, though, for kids who are scared of dogs.lostinrates wrote: »I would reveal age personally. Not bothered much, though have gone from looking young for age to looking old for age....when i an older i might add a few years on, so i can have everyone think i look good for my age again
Re kids.....big dog is fine with kids who run and scream, dog dog would not be so cool.....and might try to join in, leading to a viscipus circle which never ends when when animals and kids are concerned.
Something that always surprises me is when parents do not teach children to ask if they may stroke someone elses dog instead of just touching it, or grabbing it. I have thought about getting dog dog a tabard saying, 'do not pet me' because in crowds she does not like people to touch her without being introduced, ( i put a soft muzzle on her if we go somewhere crowded, i don't think i need to, but i do not want to be wrong) She is very gentle when approached correctly, but i would NEVER trust her alone with children (unlike big dog, who is not to be teusted with chickens or cats but could baby sit children ).
DS likes your descriptions of when and with what your dogs can be trusted. DD is very good at asking owners if their dogs are friendly and DS doesn't particularly like petting strange dogs so it's not an issue with him.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

And ds was very good with the dogs. Kids like that, and dd, who my dogs loved immeadiately, are dog safe imo, and i relax. Running squealers might be confused with rabbits,
Haystack is a little smaller now.....still fun though. Dh and i lay up there in a the rain for a while this weekend, listening to the rain hit the roof and watching the horses and deer. Its got good stack shape for me to climb atm.0 -

Seems sensible approach. For us, dh says he wishes he could do all the hours through the week and have weekends off.0 -

Nope....and I have my window open!
Going to be close very soon though, kids are moaning about being cold and the temperature in the house is 16 degrees. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
