Earlier today I posted that Mr S was starting a two day powerboat course. That he was dumbing down his wet weather clothing in an effort to be under the radar.
A bit I did not mention was that Mr S would get a lot of 'stick' from colleagues and associates for doing this if it were known . He really has got plenty of people who would teach him for free - but he wanted this new skill to be private.
He has just rang me to say he will be home in about half an hour - and gave me the news that the trainer/skipper is the adult son of one of his much loved assistants:eek:. We know this guy well, he was the official photograher we chose for photographs of our daughter when she turned 18.
He has had all day to get over it so will see the funny side . The 'stick' will be worse now as 'they'will also know he paid for it and tried to keep it quiet.0 -
Today, I went to town to eat cake and buy a vacuum food sealer.
I am officially middle aged suburbia. :rotfl:0 -
I am relatively new on this thread, only made 3 posts or so but I hope I haven't offended anyone. You know, I havent posted that often because it feels like you all know each other really really well and because of this I often don't know what to say in response to certain posts; I can tell there is a lot of history there, and with 370 pages I just don't have the time to catch up. I was given a nice welcome though, so I appreciate that.8k in 2015 Challenge ( #167)0

I don't feel the need for ignore either, just like irl I am quite able to ignore people who's views are find incomprehensible/reprehensible.
I would really miss lir and hope it isn't any thing I have said that has made her feel uncomfortable.
I am of the view that as LIR says, this thread is like a cocktail party and it is easy to 'circulate' and not get stuck talking to the 'bore', I also think njiceness it is truest sense is being the perfect host and showing interest in allo the guests and accepting that what we might personally find rude may just be some one else being of a different culture or even just that some people like to exagerate their expereinces to be the centre of attention. WE can welcome them, learn new things and if we find them hard work just stick to mingling mostly with those we know have interesting views.
Sometimes I struggle with how strongly to express an opinion on this thread, it is nice to be able to politely disagree but sometimes I wonder if I am straying from being nice by doing so but then neither do I want a thread that is only about fluffy bunnies and sunny days out.
That is certainly how i have always felt here until recently. I love strong opinions and lively debate.0 -
Welcome to MiddyMum, don't worry about previous stuff, my memory is so short I forget what we have talked about.
We bought a couple of beds from IKEA and the size is slightly different to beds everywhere else, so I put flat sheets on rather than fitted. OH doesn't approve and thinks people like fitted sheets so the creases are pulled out and don't form when you move around in your sleep. I do prefer fitted, because it's easier to make the bed if some corners are inaccessible.... but it doesn't really matter.... especially is somebody else is making the bed (rare event, probably limited to once every 10 years).0
