Yes, it would be for September to May. I think that I will whittle it down, as I don't want him dying of cirrhosis of the liver or spending his entire uni career travelling to Arsenal matches. OTOH, I agree entirely with Lydia that he needs to concentrate on his studies, rather than earning money.

That is the father view. Student view is to phone mum with the plea that they have no money for food (as its only spent on drink) so could mum please top up the sainsbury meal card.

As he is in Scotland, which I understand has a different league, he needs to find a second team to support that is scottish. Chosen for their winning ability or location or red kit.

Oh, I just love really fresh cobs. Sadly, the ones we get from supermarkets are never really fresh. Maybe I should plough up the lawn and start growing corn? However, with my gardening ability, we'll end up with a wasteland.

Anyone can grow sweetcorn they need no looking after, we plant them, watch them and leave them. The problem is that they need to be grown in a minimum of a 4x4 blocks so you end up with at least 16 cobs. :) Go on, try it

why not include rent in that £600 a month allowance and he shall have to learn to budget?

TBH, many of the undergraduate students I mentor have part time jobs. It really grounds them and teaches them budgeting and time management. They really get a better life experience as well, mixing with lots of people from lots of different backgrounds and have a wider social circle. But to each their own, everyone grows up at different rates. :)

He's going to be doing 4 hours a week of work, anyway, writing a blog for someone. The cost of a room in an uncatered hall is around £400/month - there are cheaper and more expensive options than that. So, he wouldn't have a lot left over to buy books, etc.

Amazingly, they can buy booze using that, but not ciggies. :)

Is the 4x4 to provide mutual support? I suppose that they all ripen at the same time, too?

Give him £500 and let him booze if he wants. In 3 years time he'll have to get a job he probably wont like and do it for 40 years.

OH is shouting in rage at the TV "this is not a sport, they're not doing anything". Then a lot of swearing and now the TV is off. The sport? Dressage! Ha ha.

Blind archery. That sounds so dangerous!

He's on a 4 year skive - this is Scotland - but I take your point.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Use the ignore function? It helps, at least in the main board it does, although I have a personal rule that I always ignore two people at once, one lunatic from each side of the fence. So maybe you will have to put a NP on ignore when you ignore a NNP.

I have a personal ignore function, but i am afraid that i cannot ignore some of my current concerns.
