Ah, I'll hold my hand up, then. As an excuse, I'll just say that I did not know who else to ask about supporting kids at uni. It's just such a long time since I was there.

Anyway, please don't leave on my account, LIR.

    What GDB said, doubled!

Feeling very guilty- it's almost exactly a year since I first posted (on thread IV) so I don't know what the first threads must have been like and if I've made them change their tone.

Feeling very guilty about many of my posts now.

Personally i don't think money itself should be verboten, its the way some people handle the money issues that arise.

I think when money is behind everything one risks becoming a Walking cliche, or a self publicising caracature. There are certainly times when money has become unpleasant and tacky, but i don't think its money itself that makes them so.

Now, thats not. Very nice person comment, because i think there is pretty much only one way to read it.

Tbc, i am not asking for apologies, i deserve none. I am just saying how i am feeling, and why i do not feel this is the place it was. Growth is welcome, and necessary even when its not welcome. But atm i think to continue to develop 'straight' the thread needs a back brace or tying in or something.

This has been a great place. You know, when i could not get an appointment, spirit, whom i have never met in rl offered to pick me up at the station and take me to one near her. Thats how the nice people are in the main. We have come to know and care for each other. Recently a nice group of nice people came here, and in the main we chatted, welcomed partners and continued pretty much as we do here. I would like to feel able to do what spirit offered me, ehat other np have offered each other for the vast majority of people here, but when mistrust creeps in then it becomes very different. A few months' certainly since zag arrived, there was not a nice person i felt i could not share space with comfortably. Thats changed. Generally thats ok, i don't mind not liking everyone in the room at a party, this feels different to me.

This is so true, with the addition of just being able to vent/ natter to however many sets of sympathetic ears (but which are also associated with a wealth of different sets of experience and perspectives).

FWIW, I found the discussion about funding children through Uni really interesting. Like LIR said, it would have been different if it had been about trying to 'out-support' others, but it wasn't. I'd also never have thought about shipping belongings separately via Royal Mail (which seemed really quite reasonable compared to how much it can cost to post a normal parcel!).

Wonder how much i can pick up some toasting forks for for the kitchen fire. We are also looking for a small spit. Pig will not fit, but a small chicken might. (its actually not allowed to spit roast on a normal domestic fire acoording to building regs. All that fat in the flue must be an issue. ).

I will take some pictures later.

Use the ignore function? It helps, at least in the main board it does, although I have a personal rule that I always ignore two people at once, one lunatic from each side of the fence. So maybe you will have to put a NP on ignore when you ignore a NNP.

Thanks so much. It does sound like I am being taken for a ride with the allowance, then. Do your hall fees include food?

I don't think that £600/month is an outrageous allowance to pay him personally, are you just going to pay that in term time?
