The P in Phelps is silent - like the P in pool.

C+P Wheezys post for speed. Congrats from us too.
:rotfl::rotfl: Son waiting on a job too and desp to move out. I was a bit affronted by it but he explained it well.....he moved back 2 years ago to do his course and wants to live his own life again.
He does like the bill-free lifestyle, the laundry/food service and free car that fills up with petrol by magic but really wants his own place again.
Thanks fc.
Generally, I have quite enjoyed being here - and I think I'll be missed. As much as I like the magic re-filling fridge, I have been a live-in cleaner and laundry service for ma and pa so I have been trying to 'pay' my way. We have generally all got on quite well, and though there have been a few fireworks there have been less than I thought. I think someone was hoping I would find a job nearby and stay living here (town, but possibly house too)... whilst very much appreciated as a back up I do need a little more (metaphorical) space to open my wingsAt least we all have a few months to get used to the idea!

Perhaps... I could spend a week at each of the Herts NPs houses, then start from the beginning again. Very MSE :money:0 -
Thanks fc.

I notice a huge difference between DD and Son.
She helps out more chores wise automatically hoovering if the place needs it. He loves to cook (and is very good at it) so he does a great dinner at least once a week but apart from that he doesn't 'do' housework on any level at all.
He has dropped from about 6000 cals a day to about 4000 now (as he is 25) so we'll really notice the food spend drop when he goes.
I blame the parents myself as he wasn't 'trained' from a young enough age to do hoovering etc. Oooops..... and that parent I blame happens to be myself.0 -
Fc, don't kick ypurself too hard. Its this sort of thing that makes me think everyone should have to share for a while with people who don't love them and also think someone else does it before embarking i ti things like live together relationships.
When you don't mind sharing any more and chipping in is probably when you are ready to embark in a serious relationship imo.0 -

That's a good pointI think I had working mother guilt most of the time so would kill myself running around after them during evenings/weekends just so I could be 'proper' mum ....which as I write it sounds utterly ridiculous.
Now they are both adults I have a bit of hidden resentment that most household chores are now automatically my 'department'. Saturdays are clear up/clean down days for me. I don't really mind most weeks as I find it clears my head from the working week but sometimes it would be nice for someone else to limelight the bathroom + mop the floors.:)0 -
So I got to Waterloo and erupted into a terrible cold sweat, shivering uncontrollably and literally dripping water onto the floor and sweating through all my clothes in about 3 minutes. Then a man sat next to me with a McDonald's and I started to dry heave. After about 15 mins I improved slightly and got on the tube but was near collapse again when I luckily got a seat otherwise I would have had to get off.
I did make it to the Olympic park though, and after three hours watching cycling and dressage on he big screens whilst lying flat on my back I recovered somewhat.
Who would have known 3m springboard diving could be so entertaining. Russian guy beat the Chinese and the crowd were loving it. The British guy was trailing in 11th but then nailed his last dive and got over 100 (only the winner scored more and then only once) and it really lifted the roof off.
I was really impressed by the Olympic park, and the organisation of everything was really good. I was expecting it to be a bit of a 'well meaning amateur' shambles in some respects, but it wasn't at all.
We also go straight on a jubilee line train when we left and I was going to say that worked really well too, but they have just announced there is a points failure at stanmore. Ha ha!0 -
Adjusting to new routine tonight. Parent is up, so will have to do night time routine with dogs. They watched me come upstairs with sad brown eyes, obviously thinking they might not get their 'bedtime biscuit' and 'settle down now' kiss on the head.
Meanwhile, for the tirst tme in days now i am in bed but actually feel reasonable awake, rofl. I am sure i will sleep again soon though.0 -
