Nice people thread part 6 - thrice by twice as nice :)

The good thing about this thread is that we only need to be nice people when we are on it. I sure everyone knows that I am not so nice on the rest of the board or irl but as long as one is nice here then one is accepted and welcomed, not challenged about the rest of their not so nice life.Graham_Devon wrote: »Not often I post on this thread, but this stood out!
Just wanted to say congratulations and all the best for the future
No doubt in your industry that is probably a crime but to my untrained eye you look a lot better with those lbs than you would without them...Since we moved back to Surburban London I have put on a stone as I don't walk everywhere anymore.
It is strange isn't it - somehow 'Red lorry, yellow lorry' is a lot harder than 'She sells sea-shells...'lostinrates wrote: »Dh and i were in a silly mood last night and discorvered that it is very hard to say dame judy dench ten times quickly, whereas maryelizabet masterantonio just trips of the tongue. I don't have anything useful to say silvercar, but I've been thinking of you and your family. Glad you've got a good circle of friends to support you x
Many have been asking for you on this thread, silver.
Will be driving over 400 miles to see my p and m very soon. They're in reasonable health AFAIK but as dad's 80 now they're less keen to visit us.
Making a point these days of going to see them every break I get, and bringing the kids. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
My first thought was H-O-H, but that is more commonly written as H2O and if you used that method, there would be more answers.
I have dusted off my periodic table and come up with RbBr...
Well done!

I'm home and back.
Feeling a little weird. There is a certain detachment, because all the events of the last 2 weeks were in Cardiff and now I'm home and the house is exactly the same (except for the piles of washing).
The short story is that Dad went into hospital for some tests to identify what the immediate problem was, he deteriorated each day and passed away 6 days later. Then we had the funeral and an official mourning period and now I'm home.
How am I feeling? Sometimes I'm fine and sometimes I'm not. I have a circle of supportive friends in RL and that certainly helps.
We were all thinking of you in your absence. The thing with the big C is nobody can tell you the "when" and then it all happens; although from the first sign there's something up there's so much to do all the time there's not often time to spend on "nice things" with the patient, which can lead to some regrets.... you're so busy fighting "today's battles" there's no time for "life as usual" or any respite.
It's not now over, it's just begun as your life will fill with memories and reminders - and you've still got a whole year of those "firsts" to deal with. Things will be different from now on, things will become "before" and "since"; you'll never forget.
Try to remember the nice things and not to dwell on what (with hindsight) you think you could have done better/differently ... because in the heat of the battle you don't have the time to think, nor the ability to do things differently.
I find myself thinking constantly of my old that's gone ... and rarely one thought for the remaining one.... I'm sure that'll be the cause of future guilt for me...
All the best.0 -
