All the cupcake talk is making me hungry.
What is the big deal with cupcakes at the mo? They really seem to be the thing. I know of a few recent birthdays which have revolved around cupcakes, & the most popular course at our college is a cupcake making workshop!
Donuts - I love donuts nearly as much as homer does, or as much as I love cheesecake. Custard donuts, and vanilla donuts in particular. Nom nom nom.
I've never had a krispy kreme donut. Should I?It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Have you read the Takeaway Secret thread? I've *coughs* ... er ... 'got a copy' *winks*. There's a few photos on the thread if you can be 4rsed to plough through and find them (site's too slow really, unless you have a spare 16 hours free).... the author has a Twitter account where people have uploaded a limited number of photos that they've taken after they followed the recipes.... and there are a few other sources online where people have made stuff and blogged/photographed it.
Book itself has NO photos.... how does that happen? He made, re-made, tweaked, worked on the recipes.... and never got to take a photo? I mean ... !!!!!!??0 -
viva, check the Northern Line, it has a reputation for problems. Also check tube engineering works at the weekend.
In theory it should be easy to park in the side streets around High Barnet tube (there is a station car park if you want to pay) and take the tube all the way in.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I was looking to drive in, but hear that the Olympic lanes are now in use and I;m concerned that the traffic will be dreadful. Trying to decide whether this is still best course of action or whether to go somewhere on the Northern Line and park up, take tube in.
My go to train lines are the Met and Jub, I don't really know the Northern Line. Any ideas?
This website tells you when the last trains and tubes run.
Used to live on the Northern line. I know it has a dodgey reputation but that's mainly sarf of the river.
.
I've heard that Islington's congested but the congestion charge zone wasn't extended as Mayor Ken was trying to keep the voters there sweet. So it got extended to West London which was never congested (but it didn't qjuite reach Westfield!)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Insurance company are trying to claim it was her fault as she was on the phone....she's claiming not to be on the phone. The initial police report confirms her view, however she was side swiped by a van.....

Sometimes a fragile day is good for you - a rest. Glad you're not going to let it last, though.vivatifosi wrote: »Don't underestimate the faff factor in unloading. My parents have a dishwasher that faces their island, but the door opens into the whole of the space. Loading is fine because you put in as it builds up, but unloading is a nightmare. Their pots and pans go one way, their cups and plates go another way, so either the machine needs to be closed again or you have to walk round the island to the other side, walking round is a faff, sliding all the draws and racks back in to close the door is another faff. Then there's the mug cupboard, which happens to be opposite the dishwasher and can't be opened while the washer door is open. So you have to put the mugs in one place to move them to another cupboard once the door is shut. It's a PITA! I don't use my dishwasher but at least I can open the door without any problems.Part of the reason for our kitchen makeover is because it is was so narrow that when the dishwasher was open it was hard to pass at all.
You are making me feel better about my kitchen. When the house was built, the kitchen had doors in the north and west walls, and units on the south and east walls. The room is big enough to have a table up against the west wall. One of the previous alterations blocked up the door in the west wall and put an archway in the south wall, so there are now units in two straight lines down the east and west walls and nowhere to put a table at all. I have always felt it was a bit of a waste of the space to have all that floor between the two rows of units but nowhere to put a table. But perhaps it is no bad thing to be able to leave all the doors of everything wide open and still walk comfortably down the middle of the room.and of course there are no corner units.
On the wall we have tall units from the corner and then half way along we switch to worktop. The underworktop units stick out about 30mm less than the worktop so the handles are covered, the tall units obviously need to be in line with the under counter units but what happens where they meet and the worktop sticks out further than the tall units but 300mm - do you just angle it in?The builders are making a meal of our floor....Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

In the book, the section on burgers has a Hamburger (American fast-food style), but in another, later chapter there's an American Breakfast Sausage on page 180 right after some muffin recipes.... so maybe that's what you mean.
On the Twitter here's a photo of somebody's burger and chips https://p.twimg.com/Auz3PQdCQAAFfPI.jpg0 -
You're all making me feel old due to my lack of patience. We've owned three houses. The first was a 2-up 2-down semi, where we divided one room into a bedroom and nursery. An utterly charming house once you'd seen the inside- and I almost didn't get out of the car as it looked so poky I didn't realise what a tardis it was.)
Our second house had a titchy useless kitchen which we extrened into the front entrance hall. Put in a dishwasher and 9-drawer freezer (£300 from Iceland and I still miss it!). Had no charm whatsoever but what do I know as it jumped in value and made more money than I earned by the sweat of my brow.
Last and I hope final house - no structural changes plann ed. It'd got 4 beds 2 receptions and a conservatory and the kitrchen's already extended. Admittedly no storage space but we've put in wardrobes and cupboards after endeless IKEA visits. It's got charm and yes it's a bit of a tardis and I don't know why I like that but I do.
I can't stand the idea of more building work. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes.
I almost find it disturbing that we don't build houses the right size and struicture the first time round. We don't buy unicycles and fit a second wheel on themThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
