When you think of the amount of rubbish i have typed here......
Should we be upset? If it turns out to be a problem we can just give pn a few quid and decamp over there.
Anyhoo.....
Opinions on logistics......
Looks like one wat or another we might have building work starting soon. Architect is coming back to us for a meeting next friday i think.
One very brilliant scheduling suggestion has been to instead of keeping the kitchen where it is and then putting a temporary kitchen in the new kitchen, is to put the kitchen in what will be the dining room temporarily. This seems very sensible, as apparantly this can shave a month of the build time, and also, totally divid the builders area from our house....they can have that end and we never even need to cross paths outside meetings.
There is a further bonus, in that it might be worth taking down the wall that is to come down eventually now, so that we start to get the done layout.
Another option is to stick the cooker and fridge in my feed room for the summer....a walk of...i dunno, 75metres....but has a sink there etc.
Which would np do? Build schedlue is three plus months with this time saving plan, so a a saving of a bout a month.
We are also looking at cost saving things now, and it might be my underfloor heating in the kitchen is for the high jump. I dunno, have not talked to dh. I have been thinking i could compromise with those vented blowy heaters from under plinths, but then worry about having heat under food storage areas....seems.....wrong.
Then i though0 -
Well done him :T
Just hope it doesn't go overboard with flashing adds popping up all over the place like some other sites.
If they did pay almost £9.5m in referral fees last year then you could see why it made business sense for them to buy if it was for sale.0 -
I'd forget sticking the temp kitchen in a feed store 75m away. Besides that, doesn't feed include hay and straw, which are inflammable? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

No, feed is grains. Hay and straw type stuff is somewhere else in a barn.....about another 75 metres away. The idea of trying to fit hay in a feed foom does tickle me pink though..
I am just making these distances up btw, i have no idea how far away anything is really:D0 -
And if it is too much for PN, then I can always fill the gap...forums are my speciality. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
75m is 45 seconds ish. A long way to walk for a cup of tea in your own home.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Airline will courier it to you for free.OH's missing luggage has been found. It is now on the way back to the UK, as is he. But from different airports. Hoping they find a way to reunite at heathrow, he won't be happy to have to go back to get it tomorrow!
This may not be the time to say this but DW always assumes every slight she suffers is due to her colour but very often people just use that in their unpleasant comments but would have picked on who ever it was and found a reason. I'm not sure whether it makes things better or worse that they probably would have picked on you as a lone middle class person whatever your race. Hitting you with masonry is actually a pretty serious criminal offence and if they used racist language then the offence and possible sentences escalates so I hope the police are taking it seriously. I do know a few members of the Kent Constabulary so let me know if you don't think it is being handled properly.I live in a VERY white town.
I didn't actually mean assaulting people but probably just congregating in a menacing manner, making comments etc. Lookat at the example of the posh girl who just got sent down for the riots, it is something about a group dynamic and peer pressure so it only needs one truly evil member to make the whole group act up.I don't know michaels...I know I've done my bit of scroat-ish (?) and rebellious behavior when I was a teenager, but throwing rocks at people was never part of that.I think....0 -
LIR - in our old extension we had a temporary kitchen in the dining part of our knocked through lounge/dining room and it worked fine (we took the carpet up and put down cheapest lino we could find). I would definitely recommend this over having work going on around you especially if it means you can seal of the building work from the rest of the house. The only truly bad bit of our most recent extension was when they were knocking through and living and building parts of the house were not separated.I think....0
