Sunny here! Don't know how long it will last. Hope we get at least one whole day of it today - I'm one of the timekeepers for school sports day. (The PE department trust us physicists with stopwatches because we use them for experiments!)

I want advice about plants, please. Now my conservatory is tidy again, it looks a little bare. I think it would be nice to have some plants in there, but all the ones I put in there last time got frazzled when we had a sunny spell. (The conservatory faces due south.) I like plants with pretty colours and/or nice smells, and although I've no objection to succulents as such, I don't like spikey ones. Can anyone suggest anything that might be able to survive the big changes in temperature in there? It's not just hot when it's sunny, but v cold in winter.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Moving to a new area... again. 200 miles or so... due east.

You'll finally be on the NP map then! :D

But yours won't wear out .... it's hardly been used!
    :)

I remember using my brain yesterday, and the day before! To be honest, it's nowhere near as good as it used to be.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Pelagoniums, both common red ones (which can have amazing scent) and scented ones. Ours have coped brilliantly with the unheated house. They are almost impossible to kill and the kids can reproduce them easily.

In fact lydia, i have loadsa little pots i can give you for them, but if you get a small bag of compost if you like you can get some cuttings from me when you next visit. Mine are not huge atm as i cut back too hard last autumn as they were all too leggy, but i am sure we can find some spare bits. I find they take root easily in a glass of water.

Oops, professional shopper pwned, I have at times had an egg credit card (in the days of the Pullman) but never realised I could have avoid paying quidco any money during that time - must have costme about 50 quid :(

Then again I stopped using quidco a few years ago as the tracking was so poor and they never did anything when you put in an inquiry- are they better now?

Tracking seems quite good, when I have had to raise a query they have responded chased and credited.

I used greasypalm previously and their tracking was poor and querying a waste of time.

Drove to a small shopping centre today and walked from car to 2 stores i needed to visit and checked-in at 11 stores on route, netting £1.15 :)

I should add that the novelty will wear off, that I wouldn't keep playing with the phone if I was shopping with a friend, taking your phone out in the street could make you feel vlunerable to mugging and that the iphone goes back to son when he returns from travelling, so game over.

Bought an Innocent smoothie from the supermarket, Pineapples, bananas and coconuts, absolutely delightful, like a milkshake, healthy as well, I hope :)

Yes, well done Murray, he gets to be British for a few more days. If he loses the semi, then he will of course go back to being Scottish. However if he actually goes on to be the first man from here since Fred Perry to win at Wimbledon, there will doubtless be at least one reporter from one corner of the world that calls him English. He must be thrilled.

Andy Murray is a top fella, & I can't stand the Murray knockers. He's a definite talent, a committed sportsman. He's thoughtful, & clever.
Yesterdays game was a very good match - a lot of excellent tennis by both players. Some of the passing shots were sublime.
Of course, I am slightly biased:

Seems to be a dry day here, for a change...
Perhaps the garden will dry out a little. When I walk across the garden at the mo, the squelching is phenomenal!

My favourite too, non-alcoholic pina colada.

    Healthy-ish but a lot of calories;
