Fab offer of the pelargonium cuttings! Thanks lir.
I have compost. When we moved house I had no idea what to do with the stuff that had been rotting down in the bottom of the compost bin for a few years, so I bagged it up, brought it with us, and put it back in the compost bin. It's a lovely dark brown composty substance now, with no distinguishable bits in it. I can bring some when we come to see you. You can teach DD and me what to do with them when we get them home. She's beginning to be interested in gardening.
(Not that that means it's too late for anyone else to make suggestions... the more the merrier, so if anyone else has ideas for me, do chip in.)
On the subject of smoothies... (too lazy to go back and find the post and quote it) ... I like the Innocent strawberries & raspberries one. It's marketed for kids, but actually my kids don't like it and I do.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
re Innocent smoothies I like the kiwi and lime one best (I think it is). I find the ones with banana in taste too strongly of banana and not of the other fruits.0

Very stupid. Like cutting operating theatre staff during the week, and then having to pay time and a half to get people to come in at weekends to catch up on the backlog. My evidence is merely anecdotal, but it seems that coroner's courts are just as afflicted by delays as crown courts are.No name on the card, but I'm pretty sure I know who sent them. I know this is going to sound incredibly ungrateful, but I'm not very impressed. I'd so much rather the money was put towards other things (such as repaying debts), and the time for flowers has been and gone. A long time ago. And they were not forthcoming!
Vent over.
What a muppet. If the flowers are a peace offering, then why make them anonymous? That's just irritating. And although I don't know much about the bloke or the situation, it sounds to me like a case of "haven't listened properly, don't intend to do anything about your actual concerns, hope flowers will magically make it all OK again". :wall:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Something like that. I think the most frustrating bit is that they would be under no illusions that I would rather the money was used more sensibly. And that's without even getting onto whether its appropriate to be sending them at all. Bah!0 -

Where I used to work there were quite a few medics too. The amount that they would get paid to work on a Saturday was absolutely shocking. Think it was to try and get waiting list times down, but it was going on for a pretty long time.
Court delays (all types) just make unpleasant situations worse for everyone involved.0 -

In addition, are you referring to his comments regarding who he would be supporting england at football, & his response that he would support "anyone but england"? Clearly that was a tongue in cheek answer (Murray has a very dry sense of humour).
I really don't understand the situation where an english person does not wish to see a British person do well (& vice versa). Will you not want Dai Greene to win a gold medal at the olympics as he's welsh?
It is bizarre, in exactly the same way as scottish/irish/welsh hating the english ad infinitum.
the olympics is a bit different as we compete as britain, whereas in tennis, murray competes as a scot. but i don't really care about scottish people in the british team, e.g. i don't care whether hoy wins a gold medal or not. i don't want him not to win it, but if there was an english rider in the same race i'd want the english one to win.
the scots and the welsh have set out their stall as being vehermently anti-english in the sporting sphere (i don't agree that murray was being a master of dry wit when he made that comment, i think he meant it - that's fine with me, i'm not angry with him about it), so i don't really see why we should be anything else.
but in response to our opening question, english. i don't consider myself british.0 -

Do you have to talk again soon?
Of so i would suggest something like this early in the conversation.
' i have to admit this is getting me down a bit, its not soley this disentagling stuff, its that I met someone really nice this week but it turns out he is the kind of prat who sends flopwers with no card. As you know, i am just not that sorta gal.......especially when i feel so financially restricted by this stuff with you and not working etc'
Because i am mean.:D

I've already sent a polite (as polite as I could muster whilst hopefully getting the point across) text saying thanks, that the flowers were nice, but that he really shouldn't have (and that he knows I'm not just saying it. With a please don't do this again at the end for good measure.0 -

personally i doubt this is any different to the length of delay under any previous government in modern times. 12-18 months between allegation and trial is nothing shocking, and a 6 month wait for a crown court trial is nothing new. it is rubbish, but i don't think that this is a situation which has suddenly been created by cuts.
i've been involved in a number of complex cases, 18 months between charge and trial is not abnormal now and was not abnormal 5 years ago.
the tax tribunal has something like a 20 year backlog, which was there well before the cuts came in.0 -
Pah - All the tribunerals should be relocated to a single centre in a business park outside Birmingham rather than all the poncey lawyers and specialists being based in the most expensive part of the country using buildings hired for the day or left empty more of the time than not.
I just don't get the putting one's country before all other considerations bit in sport - do I have more in common with someone in Liverpool than I do in Paris - not really. I'll support someone for their skills or attitude (and being honest in women's tennis cos they look nice), their nationality doesn't matter. For example does the English football team generally represent values we would like to emulate?
Nikki I would just cut all links and direct any essential comms through a mate (of yours) or relative. Believe it or not I bet the guy does not realise it is over and can't be resurected.I think....0
