Anyone else think of michaels every time they see the new BT advert?
Not sure I've seen it .... only one I can remember is the new dysfunctional student one, where he lets loads of Spanish hotties into his room to use his signal.

At this rate my chillblains are going to return :rotfl:

This is terrible weather. Since my mother left the country, I haven't had to water the plants once. I don't think we've had a 24 hour period when it has been completely dry. :(

The thing about brick lane is partly convenience. I quite like the feeling of.......otherness...too. We had an amazing meal on southall once. Like nothing i have eaten anywhere. We had very strange effects from it. Dh likes..hmmm ...Do i mean drummond st? He likes all that indian dessert.

There are some amazing Indian restaurants in Southall because they don't cater to British tastes. I worked with two guys, one from Sri Lanka and the other from Pakistan who used to take us there for lunch - but never on a Friday because you couldn't get parked. The food was amazing and it was in like a Pakistani version of McDonalds which served curry in a hurry on formica tables.

I love Drummond Street though. What's not to love about a street of vegetarian Indian restaurants? A good Thali, with paper Dosa, nom nom nom. Or my favourite Mattar Paneer, or for lir, Saag Paneer. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......... Haven't been there for ages though, I hope it is still as good.

It doesn't surprise me anyone who likes unambiguous claer instructions would be a good solid cook. In fact, it seems very logical.
Unfortunately, recipes don't provide unambiguous clear instructions. It relies on experience.

The first time I baked a cake, about 2-3 years ago, I knew I had to stick the knife in until it came out clean.... the thing is, they didn't explain clean. As it was still coming out wet with moisture I thought that wasn't clean. It turns out that clean means "without any wet cake mixture on it"..... luckily, due to the Internet, somebody wised me up before it dried through.

The other stuff that's annoying is when you're told to do something "until its consistency is like....". Cream is a good example of this, as I've never bought cream I don't know what cream is like, so can't do something "until its consistency is like cream".

Then "reduce" - but they don't say how much by.

Lots of vague instructions are to be found in cooking.

I don't see why you'd think of michaels... unless you see him as a super-white, overweight, dysfunctional student ... with greasy hair :)

Speaking of adverts, has anyone seen the new Go Compare one (probably get in trouble with Martin for mentioning them!)? Very randomly has Sue Barker (or someone who looks just like her) trying to kill the opera singer. I was very confused when I saw it yesterday.
