Why didn't it occur to designers of caravans to coat the roof in a thin rubber layer to minimise the popular British weather of ..... driving rain??0

Were they maybe all based in the hosepipe-banning drought-prone east side of Britain. Don't put on Room 101, pN!:D Not this minute, anyway! There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
WE got 'our' road 'fixed' - I was thinking look, Herts CC can patch the roads properly when they get round to it. DW pointed out it was the torch route and that it wouldn't have happened otherwise...Was in Hemel today and witnessed the same thing :mad:I got excited enough driving on the Isle of Wight (had never driven off the mainland before)
Just back from seeing the torch. There were a lot more people there than I thought - and we weren't in the town centre so goodness knows what it was like there. I guess it helps that it's Sunday afternoon.
The torch itself was preceded by a number of sponsors 'floats' - funnily enough you don't see that on tv. I can understand getting costs of the relay sponsored (all those police need paying etc), but I thought it made it feel very commercialised. It doesn't make me feel any warmer about the companies, no matter how smiley and wavey the people on the floats were. Bah humbug!
I think that is probably above and beyond, I found just catching up this evenings 4 pages more than I expected.lemonjelly wrote: »I will go back to the last time I posted & catch up with whatever you're all on about as soon as I get chance....:o
I am so far behind schedule. The kitchen/dining/family room is supposed to have been emptied as it is being re-floored and remodelled starting Thursday but to achieve that I had to first complete the main bedroom (in order to empty the study/dining room and then the study dining room. Just about achieved the first two (at 11.30 ion Sunday night) but no progress on emptying...and also on the agenda is emptying the guest room and painting it before the Spanish student arrive in 2 weeks...and that same weekend we have to do the girls birthday party. And next weekend as well as being half way through the kitchen refit we are also supposed to be doing street arty all day Saturday and waving at the torch on Sunday. Hmm... will it all work?I think....0 -

Sadly, most of the day it was in wolverhampton would've been missed by me, as the torch came at the same time as our bowls match. However, as luck would have it, the torch passed our bowling green (well, 500 yards away) 20 mins before our match started. So I thought I'd go to bowls early (road closures etc) & see it.
Pulled onto the club car park at 1.30ish, & there is a bus with all the torch relay runners sat on it. Got to say hello to them. They allowed children to hold the torch & have some pics taken. I still went up & saw the handover.
It was great - very community based, which made me so happy. Everyone was there, young, old, all ages, ethnicities, everything. I was really happy to see so many people there - especially as so many miserable so and so's keep telling me they don't give a monkeys!
Well I'm excited, & I'm glad I saw the torch (& got to meet the runners!!!)
We're taking the torch on the 7th, and I'm going to take the girls to see it. They finish school on Friday
I've managed to scare our drivers into being on their best behaviour after telling them that MI5 are in town investigating taxi drivers....Customer satisfaction rating (computers in the back of the cars) has gone from 68% to 93% since then, and some of the lower scoring ones may well be going if it drops considerably!

I think I am spending all day tomorrow at the storage, packing/repacking the things I'd just lobbed in .... thinking I'd be doing the moving.... and now it'll be a firm I don't want loose stuff unboxed as that complicates things.... so ... it's box-it-all-up-day.
If anybody's passing..... bring a box to sit on and natter while I do it.0 -

Just noticed that two of the NPs are in the top 50 posters and 1 is in the top 25!
Last summer I had 150 posts.
By heck this website can get addictive!
LOL
I'm only just in the top 250, and I post a lot....
The top 10 must do very little else but post here.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

At that moment they brought up caravan holidays with a caravan with rain pouring on it.
I should have kept quiet- but with hindsight as you didn't see it it wouldn't bother you!
My p and m and my sisters often stay in a caravan for their holiday although to be honest it's a pretty comfy caravan! There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
