Probably my least favourite journey was on I4 in Florida, with a small tornado in my rear view mirror for a not insubstantial amount of time.

I remember seeing a Lincoln Navigator flipped onto it's roof by a small twister on Adamo Drive in Tampa one afternoon (I started using the LeeRoy Selmon Expressway afterwards  damn the expense)

    Driving anywhere isn't that hard.
A lot of the "difficulty" depends on the attitude of others though. Youtube has plenty of examples of why Moscow's roads are so deadly even for those driving sensibly.

At the same time, how many of these could have been prevented with a bit of forward planning?

Traffic in road; first thing I think about in crash (1) is moving lanes and slowing down.

    Pedestrian in road; same applies.

I feel fine now, glad i did not waste hours in hospital. :)
    Good... you're needed here!!
Hope there is a decent film on tv tonight. Its film, soup and snuggle weather tonight imo.
It is .... but in my world I can only achieve one of those ..... unless I can master making soup using only a bread roll and a microwave.
I am going to put some pjs on in prep for this. We had a pub lunch and i am not cooking tonight. This week and weekend i have to finish emptying the five rooms the builders get for the first week. I get two of them back v, quickly, hopefully before that Weekend i plan to have a few friends arriving! I have said i need a cooker by then, but don't mind if i only get it the day before. :)
... there goes my Plan D of moving in on Thursday then :)

Driving also depends on conditions. Driving in france i love, but driving through france in torrential rain that obscured the view beyond the end of my bonnet was not fun. Now was driving through mist that i could not even see that far, just a vague blur of my lights infront. Driving into italy after a day of the worlds worst driving weather infrance was also hairraising. I like driving, and yet i admit i had white knuckles that evening. I never crashed or got hit in italy, and i am sure it was my uk plates that kept the car safe...people thinking they did not trust my reaction times.
That's the thing with driving.... no worries on a dry day during daylight hours ... when you can see what's going on... but in vile weather it's awful and you drive powered only by hope, belief and luck.

They rent this out in July/August, so I can let you have their details. They just hadn't got round to doing anything about it this year, when they got the random phone call on Wednesday night asking if it was possible... so they made it possible. VERY kind people, who went out of their way to give me a "yes" against the odds.

The quality of the van is tops.... it all works, is safe/checked. Nothing's shabby. And, for touring, it's slap bang in the middle of the county.

I used one of those removals auction sites. You post your job and people bid on it.... got the initial quotes in and they're looking fine, so just uploaded photos of my storage unit contents.... and contacted 5 of them to say "this is it - what's the protocol? how does it work then?"

If I get good responses I might have the removals booked by Tuesday.... once that's booked, that's the day I leave as I have to be at this end with them .... and at the other end (200 miles away)... hope they don't drive too fast!

It's more important to me to get my stuff up there right now, than to max out the number of nights I've paid for here.... so prepared to bail out early here and go into a hotel for a few nights while I work out a new address up there.... might turn out to be easier if I'm in the area anyway.
