WE got 'our' road 'fixed' - I was thinking look, Herts CC can patch the roads properly when they get round to it.
Herts CC are generally useless at anything! (And I'm only admitting that as it won't show up on Google)
I've got the Tesco contractors in to do some of the roads in Stortford, and send Cllr Elliott, with her no nonsense approach to get me the details. That's 20% of my £90k grant gone for last year, which would have gone back centrally if I hadn't done it!
I'm now fighting them to get a disabled bay relocated, so we can turn 'dis. bay, taxi rank, dis. bay, taxi rank' into 'dis.bay x2, taxi rank' down the back of Jackson Square in Stortford.
Please don't go on Street View, as both on the Station rank and the Sainsburys rank when they were taken (I used to drive a Silver 407)💙💛 💔0 -
Just noticed that two of the NPs are in the top 50 posters and 1 is in the top 25!
Last summer I had 150 posts.
By heck this website can get addictive!
I've not looked at that before, thanks. GDB and I are on the same page as Martin in the top 500. So is the long lost carolt. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I wasn't scared last night at all
Must have been more of my problems with "change" than actual fear. I must admit I was surprised that I felt scared.... I think it was an accumulation of stuff I've been going through in the past 2-5 years, rather than fear itself... sort of an accumulation of thoughts and situations finally crashing into each other in an overwhelming and spectacular fear meltdown.
And .. this morning ... it's grey, overcast and ... yes, raining.0 -
At that moment they brought up caravan holidays with a caravan with rain pouring on it.
That was the highlight of our year - the 2-week holiday dad got from work - and the budget of about £10-14 (probably for the fortnight).0 -

I'm only just in the top 250, and I post a lot....
The top 10 must do very little else but post here.
Thats certainly the truth for me. When i Started posting this replaced the other forms pf therapy i was getting for improving my ability with language again, and i was a lot less mobile. And now, i am mainly able, but the weather has conpspired against activity for what feels like about 18 months.
So i am often at the screen. My doing nothing at all started at five,( i read here at some time around seven) and i am sitting down with with my morning cup of tea and pills now. Between then and now my nothing has included: feeding all the livestock medicating four individuals of them of three different species. Being on gates for the neighbour's cows coming in with dh, before taking him to the station. Speaking to a client about her needs for this week, taking the dogs for a run (while on way back from station) and making my list for the day.
I absolutely get most done before nine am. The hours before then are my busiest, my needs of the animals and often burn me out. My last round for the animals atm is at about 10:30, but last night was later as we watched a film on tv.If it had not been piddlingwith rain as it seems to have been for months, i would be out collecting the daily tonne builders bag of horse poop now, but not the best use of my physical reaources in the rain (and harder work for the car, and damaging to the ground) so dh and i do seven tonnes of clearing together at the weekend. (two peoe are more time effiecient, but i don't like doing it that way because i want it off the ground asap and also because its something i can do without dh, and there is not so much of that). I also read upto 8 books in the average week, any thing tha keeps my mind busy when my body cannot be is a blessing to me.:)
I used to have to nap in the day, now i find my mind has lots of energy most of the time, and my body still des not. there is no duobt whatsoever i do less than most people. Not something that makes me happy, and certainly not something i would choose. I know absolutely dh would not have time to be even one of the least posting members of this thread.
I think one of the highest posters on that list does mainly one line posts that take seconds. Dunno about the others!0 -

My problem is a part of my speshulness.... unless I am settled, I can't settle. I've often been overwhelmed with thoughts and lists of tasks my muddled mind hasn't been able to tackle... and all the time I've been thinking "if I just get through this bit it'll be fine...." and then something else and something else and something else cropped up.
I can't do my writing as that requires me to be "in the zone" and without interruption - and I've had a backdrop of never-ending emails and phone calls and errands that crop up ... and I've not been in control of my location, surroundings or actions for a long time now.
So ... I think I am near the end. I have no errands/tasks for other people to do (well, not many and not critical) .... and if it stopped raining I would be repacking, finalising an arrangement with a carrier, contacting houseshares in the near area and planning my onward move.
As it is, I am sitting here in my leggings/baggy top, cross-legged typing on a laptop.... with a coffee at my side... while rain beats down on my tin can.0 -

I hope you can enjoy it now, and i think many many would feel the same under such circumstances. I dislike change and i don't think i am that speshul on the scale, though the questionaires linked in the past pose problems because i am speshul enough todind the yes/no questions asked impossible..the answer is always....well, in what scenario.
I play the sound of rain on a tune roof sometimes when i am going to sleep, so i think that sounds delicious. Loud i guess, but delicious. I miss having a conservatory for that reason.:D0 -
PasturesNew wrote: »Why didn't it occur to designers of caravans to coat the roof in a thin rubber layer to minimise the popular British weather of ..... driving rain??
Because it doesn't help much. We had a bungalow with a copper roof. The first time it rained, we wondered what was going on. You soon get used to it. Then, after a few years, it burned down.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
