but that will just leave you with the same burglary risk as before. the good thing about the grundig box is that it will actively reduce your burglary risk, possibly even to less than 0.
You're assuming burglars can read, or care.... they just grunt, point and go "new telly"

    :D

I am really getting anxious about the lawn mower situation now. Its been a while since the grass was cut, and dh tried with the hover yesterday and it looks like dogs have chewed the grass down. Next week i might call the lawn mower repair people....

We had a posh Honda mower once upon a time (not ride on but next step down).

DW arranged for it to be serviced and converted to green (unleaded) petrol.

A week after "white van men" delivered it back, someone cut their way into the garage and stole it.

    You have been warned.

No, its gone to a family company my neighbours use. Has been repairing mowers since the ark, when the floods subsided and grass grew again. Substantially posher mowers than ours go there, so we would have to be really, really unlucky for them to want to throw in their rep and longstanding business for our old thing. :D

They are slow, everyone has warned me they are slow, but its getting beyond a joke.

    ......where is my next fix?

[Sorry jaundiced view of the world today - a couple of under 25 women have just been interviewed outside a primary school.
"You cannot live at home when you've got a kid. My mum lives in a place like mine. You cannot live at home with a kid, families are entitled to their own place".
I was wondering if families need fathers too.]

i should think burglars can most definitely tell the difference. burglars, like any other professionals, will make a risk based assessment to consider whether the risk of getting caught is outweighed by the possible rewards deriving from not being caught. they also of course need cash flow i.e. the ease with which their distribution chain can handle the swag.

So cross with the wine offer on at Ocado. Buy 3, get cheapest free. So, if you buy 3 at £15, 3 at £10, and 3 at £5, you just get the 3 at £5 free and pay full price for the better ones. I expect a professional shopper would know that, and I had my suspections so did a trial shop to make sure.

What's worse is that you might have say a dozen at £15 in your basket, then at the last minute add a few cheapies at £5 each. The cheapies end up costing you £15 each. It's a trap for the unwary, and it just cheapens the Ocado brand.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I keep seeing adverts for anti-burglar grills. If that caught on, it would do wonders for the crime rate.

my preference is to buy a very large plasma screen as they are so heavy that no one will actually bother to nick them. of course the fact that they cost more to run than they do to buy is a bit of a problem.

alternatively you could cut the box up into small pieces and put it inside a box for a grundig CRT tv or something and leave that outside!

We have a 20" CRT as the only TV in the house. Somehow, I am not expecting that to get taken.

The professional shopper would have one shop at 3x£15 bottles of wine and another shop at 3x£5 bottles of wine.

That would have been my natural instinct anyways.

when at uni i used to go up to headingley a lot to see friends who were at leeds. a lot of the houses up there had massive grills over the front doors meant to deter burglars. the trouble with them is that you only need a pair of heavy duty bolt cutters to deal with them, which meant that about one house per street had a mangled security grill hanging off its hinges. (it also didn't help if you came in drunk and failed to shut the grill or the front door...).
