I love ketchup too. My store cupboard consists of tinned plum tomatoes, tinned chopped tomatoes, passata, tomato paste, tomato juice, sundried tomatoes, roasted tomatoes in oil, baked beans in tomato sauce, spaghetti in tomato sauce and numerous dried starches that can be covered in tomato products. Even my favourite F1 team is tomato coloured. Notice a trend here?

Ketchup is ok but only if there is no brown sauce available.

I'd use ketchup on chips and burgers mostly. I might have a small blob of it on a plate if I had fish fingers, mash and peas... or a splash on a cooked breakfast maybe. If I've got a bottle, then I might randomly chuck a bit of it into a chilli or a soup or a stir-fry.

If I've just got a slice of hot fritata I might add a dash to the edge of the plate, if I've nothing else better in the cupboard.

I tend to have brown sauce on macaroni cheese.

I had forgotten about fish fingers. Ketchup wit h them. Whcih is odd because in general i do not enjoy fish or chicken with anything tomato-y

When i wa little i liked instant mash mixed up wit peas and ketchup. My mother wailed in protest.

I've just been out and purchased all the major food groups:

    - a frozen meal for one
    - a gratuitous bag of chocolatey goodness
    - a small pack of gummy sweets

    :)

I read somewhere that it is healthier than raw tomatos.

I can see how it might be more nutritious, but not healthier.

Its concentrated, so vits etc are going to be more plentiful, but so is sugar and salt. Smetimes we forget the water and roughage in our diet is as important as vits per teaspoon iyswim.

Yes, ketchup (and/or) tartar sauce with fish fingers. Not brown sauce though!

I think cooked tomatoes are supposed to contain more lycopene than raw too.

Architect sent me an email to jog me along about kitchen lights. I looked at lights while i was out and saw a possible for the 'library' (several years away from being done)' but not the kitchen. Furious with myself for not buying silvercar's finds at the time.

Think i might look at a modern bliwn glass thing...but worried about cleaning it.

I did buy this strawberry hate for the sibling in law's babytobe. http://www.uptoseven.co.uk/products-page/baby-hats/strawberry-hat/

The Professional Shopper he say in taste tests people prefer Branston beans to Heinz and they are often available at 1.27 for 4 tins and not that unusual £1 for 4.

However I don't eat beans but don't mind ketchup, both on stuff and as an ingredient to add to tinned toms to reduce the acidity. Sains own brand tastes the best and I can't be having with glass bottles.

So far I have done one blog entry in about 2 weeks and it is hardly great prose, may be I will have to stick to the day job.
I buy supermarket own brand baked beans, no salt/no added sugar. And now I find Heinz a bit "stodgy". When on the cheap, they can be picked up in packs of 4 for £1.25. Tesco and Asda do them.... I've no idea about Sainsburys.
    I think....
