It's very difficult and a grey area depending on who's looking at the claim - you may get sanctioned for leaving but equally you may get sanctioned for getting the sack. I'd speak to ACAS if you're not in a union and get some clear advice before you decide.

  • Firstly, sorry I have been gone so long. An engineer working on behalf of BT kindly cut my line in three places and due to easter has taken 10days to sort.

Thanks for all your advice, after taking it on board speaking to CAB and Acas and a lot of information being given to me I will be handing in my notice on Monday. I will apply for JSA on the 'last day' at work. I will be approching the doctor over the weekend so I have some evidence but it will solely be down to the decision maker and then whoever will deal with my appeal (if I need one). If I intentionally make my employer sack me (be it not turning up/refusing work) then JSA will saction me and more than likely (according to CAB) for the full 6 months as it will be classed as gross miss conduct. With that on my record I have slimmer chance than I have now, after all at the moment I am having to give the reason why I am out of/leaving work.

CC is a bit of a problem at the moment... The 'repayment option plan' is fine if you lose your job, not leave due to sickness etc :o Reading the t&c's I don't think there is anything they can do for me however I will phone them if I get really stuck. However I have dug out some stuff to sell on ebay and I am hoping to have 2/3 months payments stashed in the next two weeks.

Heard nothing from the jobs I have applied for the past few weeks but I have found more to apply for Monday. I need to get to the library to print out my updated CV.

    Hi Pap

just popping in to offer some support and encouragement. How did things go on Monday?

I'm sure the right job will come up for you soon. You're very conscientious and hard working - if I had a job to give, it would be yours no question!

  • Hi all, so the notice went in Monday and I didn't here anything until 4pm. The phone call consisted of 'thanks', 'where is the sick note' (they have the current one that ends when I leave) and 'bye'. Hum made me feel great :o, they clearly don't care that their company and lack of support was a factor in my mental health breaking down.

I have applied for some jobs this week but going to do the majority tonight/this weekend. I have been told of a couple one of which is something I don't feel I want to do (call centre), but I might just put in an application anyway.

Will list some items on ebay this weekend, I am hoping to raise at least £60. Also thinking of a car boot sale in a few weeks to sell some odds and ends. Last pay next week and that is all taken for bills so June bills are uncovered.

Anyways have a great weekend all :T

  • Thanks all, back to the library next week to print out some more applications forms. I have seen a job which I would love (a better version of the job I left to do this) which has 5 part time and one full time position. I have been working on my CV today to update it from the school days, hopefully it will look a bit more mature.

I went out to a car boot today with Mum (as a buyer) and got a couple really good bargains. The secret which I have wanted to read in forever for 20p and a brand new copy of the book thief for 50p. The book thief also contained a 3d bookmark that is £3 new. So very happy with my bargains :)

    Will keep you all updated.
