Thanks -taff. I contacted Asda Finance first, who I took the card with & they gave me Santander's details. Perhaps I should go back to Asda Finance again or try GE etc.
On my Credit Report it shows Asda/Santander against it, but is that just because Santander now run it etc.?0 -
I assumed the card had been cancelled from your posts. If it hasn't, and the card is still active [ or one of the ones about to be closed] then the complaint does go to Santander.
You will have to send a SAR.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Hi all
I've just had the go away letter from Santander. I phoned up on Monday to complain as I'm off work due to a pre-existing illness. I received the insurance claim form and it states they won't pay out for illnesses that existed before the policy was taken out (this applies to me). So I called the insurance cover people to make sure my understanding was correct. They said yes and put me through to the mis-selling complaints team.
The letter I received today clearly says that their insurance was a non-advised sale and the onus is on the customer to decide if it's suitable for them!! As I've had the policy since 2004 I have been directed to the FLA if I was unhappy.
I will complain to them and looking at what everyone else says they'll reject my complaint too at which point I'll go to the FSA. I sense a long battle ahead and will share anything that I think will help others trying to reclaim their money from Santander card services.0 -
First off big thank you to Martin Lewis and MSE website and to all its contributors because without the forums I don't think I would be writing this post today, during this whole process I have become rather addicted to this website and hearing everyone's stories:T
To my story; back in October 2012 I made the decision to investigate PPI on my previous cards/loans/mortgages/car loans/store cards.
Beginning with Debenhams, made a phone call, they said they would investigate my claim PPI was miss-sold & to leave it with them.
Timelines follows:-
22/10/12 letter from Santandar stating if ticked PPI box therefore no evidence of miss-selling & that was their final response suggested contacting FLA if I wasn't happy.
Next course of action wrote to FOS who were very good & helpful but long & short of it was they couldn't help as my card was Pre-2005, they suggested I tackle the underwriters.
By now it was Christmas 2012 & to be honest I felt a bit deflated & ready to throw the towel in.
January 2013 - was determined to give this a last stab & get letters out to everyone involved, so mid January 2013 wrote to FLA, FIC (recommended by FOS), Genworth Financial (who I believed were the underwriters). The letter detailed why I felt I had been miss-sold & previous correspondence received from Santander.
21st January 2013 - letter received from Genworth stating awaiting direction from FOS with these cases & they were now writing to the underwriter to obtain policy details & information on premiums paid, this would take approximately 2 weeks.
9th March 2013 - letter received from Genworth (albeit dated 1st March 2013) making an offer for redress for just over £900 woohoo - needless to say I shall be delighted to accept :j
Please, please do not give up, my card was opened in 1997!!!! for anyone getting nowhere with Santander, personally I would suggest going straight to Genworth Financial or whoever was the underwriter at the time you took out your card (Santander will be able to tell you who it was). I was determined to fight the whole way with this Debenhams Store Card. Your persistence will pay off. Best wishes to everyone being given the runaround by Santander.
Happy days :T:T:T0 -
Cheque received Thursday 11th April 2013 and banked yesterday :j
So pleased I didn't give up despite the runaround.
Thanks to all the contributors & to MSE.
Good luck to those still awaiting replies.
One very happy lady :rotfl:0 -
Hi can anyone shed any light on this?
I had a House of Frazer store card I took out in October 2004. I paid the card off in feb 2007 so it is a closed account.
In April 2013 I found out PPI was attached to the card!
I complained to Santander as I have a copy of the agreement clearly showing the store person filled the form for me as she spelt my surname and address wrong and had to correct it, obviously not something I would have done and obviously the handwriting is not mine.
In addition the boxes that should have been ticked in relation to my employment status etc remain unticked and blank showing no questions were asked even in relation for the card key alone the PPI!
The adviser has put 2 crosses on the form for me to sign and mindful of a que behind me the whole process was very rushed. Hence the only thing written on the agreement is my name and address and 2 signatures from myself.
Santander have rejected my complaint by default I suspect and say I can take it to the FLA.
I filled in the FLA complaint form and they are nether use nor ornament as they say its time barred under the limitations act and I have no additional evidence to provide other than what Santander have already looked at!
That is exactly my point I have proof in black and white which they have blatantly and cockily dismissed, so surely the FLA are there to look at the case impartially and fairly and with the current evidence available as they will know Santander I purposely rejecting these store card complaints that weren't regulated by the FOS at that time.
Can I go to the FOS with this complaint if Santander have rejected and FLA are refusing to get involved?
Santander also rejected 2 other store cards and when I took them to the FOS they complained on my behalf to the underwriters Genworth who have upheld my complaints on these other 2 store cards0 -
No, you can't go tot he FOS if the cards were pre-regulation. What you can do is find out who the insurer was and complain to them.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Hi I had massive problem trying to get my PPI back from santander for my house of fraser card and went to the FOS in the end who helped alot they phoned Santander up for me and got all the info which they refused to give me.
The under writter for mine was Genworth mail them with all account details they are very quick and you should have a answer in a month.
Hope this helps

H all
Received the Santander rejection letter today after completing a PPI claims form for Bentalls and Harrods store cards.
I feel like the wrongly accused!
My cards were taken out in-store during the mid 1990s. I'm convinced I have a justified claim, albeit the only evidence I have is 2 x Bentalls statements which clearly show PPI payments.
Can anyone advise who I should contact next?
Having read the previous posts I'm not sure if the ombudsman would entertain it?
Also, unaware who the insurer would have been for GE store cards at the time?
Replies gratefully received.:(0 -
The FOS has no jurisdiction.
Genworth were usually the insurer, see if Sanatander have included a copy of your application form.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
