i got one of these fines on saturday in boucher retail pk. belfast.
there were 100s of cars parked that day many taking up 2 spaces. (bmw jeeps)
we couldnt find a space so parked our golf neatly beside another vehicle at the end of the parking bay. returned from shopping to find the ticket on the windscreen for ' parking on a roadway'. £60. we were amazed. fuming as we had spent over £150. in the shops as well. only then did we see the small signs high up on the lamposts around the carpark. you dont expect to get a ticket in a free carpark of a retail park, its not like we had to pay and display or ripped the ar$€ out of the priviledge to park free. i dont want to pay this opportunistic fineto this scumbag organisation. as for the dvla....

It's not a fine. You don't have to pay it. See above, and then the rest of this board.

It's not a 'parking ticket' nor a fine.

Just start ignoring all this junk mail like we all do and look here, just to show you it isn't just us strangers on a random forum telling you to ignore this generic scam:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAIcdi9niHA

That's a solicitor on Watchdog and his advice relates to ANY fake PCN from ANY Private Parking Company (we call them PPCs on here, for short).

    http://www.justanswer.com/uk-law/5isk3-hi-...clesall-rd.html

A barrister on the second link says ''This is a private land fine. They are unenforceable. This is not a parking fine however it may look. These companies are private firms that have no more right to punish you for the manner of your parking than your neighbour does. Only the police or the local Council can do that.''

If you look at the third from top thread 'PPC letter chains' on this parking forum you will find preview pics of the letters that PPCs use. See my signature for how to get back to the main thread list and see the top threads, you need the third one.

Just play snap with the letters, they will match our pics, honestly!:)

  • Hi guys, just updating like i said i would. I have just recieved my second letter from ukpc. this one has, just below my name and address, a red banner with the words..FINAL REMINDER.., giving me 14 days to pay up or else they will send a dept recovery agent to pursue the payment on their behalf. Then the letter goes on to warn of county court proceedings against me and warning of all sorts of dire consequences if i don't pay up. Looks like i'm only gonna get 2 letters before Mr dept recovery agent calls. Oh well...whatever. will let you know what happens. Thanks again guys.

hi reno, i am fairly new at this but have ignored a few tickets now from a ppc. debt recovery letters are a good thing as it is the light at the end of their tunnel. soon they will have to pursue other victims which will not know about the scams. you could always pop letters back in post with not known etc or winter is coming up and you can you them to make firelighters or stuff old clothes with them to make a guy fawkes
The word about the scammers is spreading like marmite here in the westcountry.
We workers all love it and the ppc hate it :rotfl:

  • IIRC there's the Final-Final reminder, then the Final-Final-Final reminder, then there's the OK how about only sending us half the amount, we have tried so very hard reminder.

Does the same "Non Laws" apply in Derry, Northern Ireland?
I see the UKPC Police, LOL, walking around this retail park like they owned the place.
If they tried to give me one of these parking notices, could I hand them a prepared invoice for time taken to read their parking charge notice, at the same rate as their exhorbatent parking "fine"?
How do I also find out who owns this car park, so I can complain to them that UKPC is and will put a lot of people off coming to the retail park if they think they will get "fined" for parking out of line?

Could I even do them for harrassment?

    Thanks.
The Managing agents for crescent link are called Lindsey properties.Believe me when I say do not worrie,do not stress and most of all never pay a single penny to ukpc,They manage this land on behalf of the Linsey group but what Linsey as for most of the clients they represent don't know is that the guys patrolling the sites have a minimum target of 20 tickets each per 35 hour weekly shift and are the paid a bonus of 20-30 =£2 31-40 =£3 41-50 =£4 then £5 per ticket thereafter so considering that each guy is doing between 80 and 100at this site plus his £230.00 basic he makes on a good week £670 minus tax and in,not bad eh

Interesting to read this. It's the first time I have seen a post that confirms that a PPC employee is incentivised to issue more fake PCNs.

Your post confirms that it's nothing to do with parking management, nothing to do with providing a service and nothing to do with any pre-estimate of loss in a specific case. It's simply a profit making scheme with bonuses being paid, to encourage more fake PCNs for any old reason.

Do you have a copy of the contract or other proof of this payment system please? If you are happy to, please send it to me by pm and I will store it until it's needed by someone re a UKPC 'appeal' to POPLA after October. Could be very useful.

I wonder if Tricky Wicky could confirm if this sort of bonus scheme is par for the course in PPC World?

Very interesting that those bonuses are on offer for issuing invoices, they will surely be in whole heap of trouble if it was on headed paper and accidentally forwarded to the likes of the dvla and bpa for comment ;)
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • The head office staff at ukpc have revised the bonus scheme at the first quarter of 2011 they state that all bonuses are K.P.I and not just for issuing tickets, this is to in the most part to soften any alarm bells that may ring if certain managing agents find out,but also depending on who they are contracted to work for different managing agents have different contracts, for example the likes of Legal and General who manage Faraday Retail Park in Coatbridge Glasgow take no ammount of tickets paid. The management Team at Merry Hill Birmingham howether take a percentage of tickets paid.Ukpc sell themselves as being all for disabled drivers rights and for making sure the private land is managed in a professional manner.Unfortunatley for ukpc is that I have lots of head office official notes and certain presentations that were created and presented to staff in the southern region and surrounding there head office in High Wycombe in June 2011 2 months after they were supposed to not being paid bonus for tickets alone, this presentation contradicts this.
