ive had a similar prob before on a mates puter. for some strange reason the way to solve it is to set it all up manually first, then when its working, if you set it up again to auto, itll work ok. (or you can leave it alone)
try keeping the same settings on the lappy and change the other one to summat like
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.34
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
i actually set up my router so that the available ip addresses is within a small range. ie 192.168.0.10 to 192.168.0.13Get some gorm.0 -

Good to hear that it's working.
The IP address range for these routers is usualy 192.168.x.x so it's always worth trying to ensure the PC is in that range. Your problem might have been caused by an old isp or modem setting which wasn't fully cleared.
Another potentail problem with laptops on a wireless network is that while a laptop is closed or hibernating it may lose its assigned IP address to another PC when the PC is switched on. It is worth having dedicated IP addresses stored in the router for all the computers on the network (if your router will allow this setup)0 -

a netmask of 255.255.0.0. will work just as well in this situation - no point in confusing the matter.0 -
