Does anyone know of another product where a multipack has smaller size singles inside, I can't think of any.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate bars are 49g singly. Multipacks of 4 and 8 the bars are 39g.

I buy beer in 500ml cans, but the multipacks are 440ml
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Perhaps it's time for the OP to change his long standing rant to 'The Great Multi-Pack Swindle' as it prevalent in pretty much every product group.

But wasn't that the whole point in introducing a breakdown on SEL's, so that we can see exactly how many g's we're getting for our p's and then being able to make an informed decision as to whether we consider what we are buying to be good value or not?

Here's a good one for you:

    Sainsburys' Minced Beef twin pack 870g, they don't do a 435g pack, although they do do: 500g, 400g, 250g, & 575g

Perhaps it should be 'The Great Multi-Pack Swindle' but I feel it's a gross exaggeration to "prevalent in pretty much every product group"

A bit different this one, not so easy to determine what is a single pack.

No, it's the standard size of a packet of Walkers crisps and I mean normal crisps not Hula Hoops etc.

Having said that I would expect a multi pack of Hula Hoops to contain a multiple amount of a single pack, whatever weight they are.

I'm Happy with multipacks having smaller packs inside them if they have a different name like 'funsize'

I also find it incredible that on a consumer forum a lot of people don't see that.

It's not logical to take the weight of a single product then define that as 'standard', whilst not only ignoring other manufacturers sizes, but sizes of their other crisp products.

    their website:

Walkers Light Cheese & Onion 24g
    Walkers Cheese & Onion 25g or 34.5g
    Walkers Max 50g
Walkers Baked Cheese & Onion 25g
Walker Extra Crunchy 50g or 100g
    Walkers Crinkle 28g or 32g

Doesn't even look like they have a standard size.

Unsure if Walkers will respond on here, I've had a FB reply, and here's the email I got:

"...Thank you for your recent email.

I would like to assure you that our packets are filled by weight, not volume, but as you have noticed, we also require a measurement of air to help protect the crisps and prevent breakages.

The packets within a multipack are lighter in weight than our standard packets as many of our consumers who choose our multipack bags use them as an accompaniment to a sandwich rather than as a snack in itself.

I shall be passing your comments onto my colleagues within our marketing and development teams for their information...."

To be honest, the much bigger scandal/concern on my mind is the internet/phone/text snooping that's being discussed today. But hey, crisps are more important to some people, right?
