The great Walkers swindle

-
Consumers are being mislead for sure - consumers buy Crisps in 'bags', Walkers are perpetuating that belief, marketing it, selling it, and exploiting it - it suit their scam to do so - and there is no other possible reason for packing short-weight 'bags' of crisps
People dont buy crisps by the weight
ok - so define 'a bag' of crisps?
There must be dozens of different weights for single bags of crisps as it is (before you get onto multipacks!), so there isn't a 'standard' pack that the customer might expect to get in a multipack.0 -

34.5 grams it's been said hundreds of times.
How is 34.5g a standard size for a single pack of crisps?
Seabrooks = 31.8g
Dorritos* = 40g
Skips = 19g
Walkers Crinkles* = 32g
Walkers Ready Salted* = 34.5
Quavers* = 20g
Hula Hoops = 34g
Discos = 28g
Walkers Baked* = 37.5g
Mini Cheddars = 50g
McCoys = 50g
Monster Much* = 40g
Walkers Sensations* = 40g
Nearly every pack has a different weight.
And the ones marked with a * are all owned by the same company (PepsiCo), so even within the same company, there is no consensus on a standard pack of crisps.0 -
Is this a legal definition or one that suits your argument?
No, it's the standard size of a packet of Walkers crisps and I mean normal crisps not Hula Hoops etc.
Having said that I would expect a multi pack of Hula Hoops to contain a multiple amount of a single pack, whatever weight they are.
I'm Happy with multipacks having smaller packs inside them if they have a different name like 'funsize'
I also find it incredible that on a consumer forum a lot of people don't see that.0 -
Stats are not stats I'm afraid, the small figures you quote would not mean a thing.
It means a whole lot more that the 'most people don't know bags are smaller' you're banding about, which is based on what? Your own biased perception? Which means zilch?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

You are perfectly right my opinion does mean zilch (not sure how it's biased), which is the same as yours.
To find out if the general public would think this situation is fair would require a proper survey from a large cross section of the general public.
Does anyone know of another product where a multipack has smaller size singles inside, I can't think of any.
To everyone, please try to keep this discussion polite, remember we are all entitled to our opinions.0 -

Twix biscuits are like this.
A "standard" twin pack is 58g so each biscuit is 29g but their mulitpack busicuits are 23g each.

They also do a much smaller one which is a funsize, but this is clearly marked as such, where as the 2 above are simply xalled Twix biscuits.

I'll be ignoring you for here on
I'm feeling left out. Can you ignore me too.
FWIW I never knew that the multipack bags were smaller, but I really don't care. I have no problem with it as they are still better value.One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -

Altough Twix is a bit naughty, it's not as bad because they don't sell single fingers. But it's still done to make the multipacks look a better bargain than it is.0
